First of all, I've loved the Journey to the West story since childhood, and I applaud Game Science for introducing it to Western culture. I can't wait to see how it comes out in the fall.

However I've just discovered an investigative piece by IGN exposing the toxic, misogynistic culture pervasive in China's gaming industry. This has significantly impacted my opinion of Game Science. As a hardcore gamer and father of two girls, I want the gaming industry to be a better space for female gamers.

Now, I'm not here to prosecute the exact actions of the game director. The article is not saying he is the Harvey Weinstein of the gaming industry in China either. However, I believe great influence brings great responsibility. So I do hope Game Science could come out and say where they stand on the issue of misogyny in the Chinese gaming industry - because their voice would carry weight and might shift the industry for the better.

Many in the comments have pointed me to the recent incident of a Chinese blogger's claim that Game Science was extorted, which, when I investigated, turned out to be completely false and denied by both sides including Game Science.

Again, you can believe whatever you choose to, or throw any personal attacks my way - that's fine. As a gamer myself, I know how toxic some gamers could be, and I'm very much used to that.

My ask is simple: when Game Science become the first Chinese studio to launch a major AAA game in the western market, when you try to get into this new market, where do you stand in terms of your mission and values? Or do you even have a belief system? Game Science's silence clearly is not going to push the industry forward for the better.

If you don't like the fact that a game only has a male character, then don't play it nor start a campaign about the developer company being racist or sexist for making a historically accurate game.

I didn't ask Game Science to change the game. But apparently, Game Science has been avoiding responding to IGN. I think that if you're the leading player in the industry, you need to have an opinion and take a stand. No matter what it is, you need to believe in something. I don't have respect for anyone who doesn't have a belief system.

They openly rejected the demands of SBI for $7million for trying to bend reality and change the game's protagonist to something it is not. They already said their piece, now its your turn to accept it and move on.

The reason why the team behind "Black Myth: Wukong" has been subjected to persistent sexist attacks and slander since their first promotional video is because they have consistently refused political correctness guidance and rejected the extortionate guidance fees of millions of dollars demanded by these political correctness teams.

Actually, such teams are quite common in Europe and America. They interfere with works like "Assassin's Creed" "Dying Light 2 Stay Human" and "God of War" by pushing for politically correct female protagonists. These changes are the direct result of the interference and guidance of such teams.

Game science teams refuse to communicate with these groups and reject their interference. Most importantly, they refuse to pay the exorbitant $7 million in guidance fees. This is the direct reason why they are being attacked and slandered. Some justifications are based on the team's lack of diversity or representation, which doesn't align with the political correctness standards.

A typical example is an article by a major IGN writer criticizing "Hogwarts Legacy" and refusing to evaluate or promote it due to its alleged lack of political correctness.
