And right now China is mostly asleep.
OP is the kind of person who'd rather jump into conspiracy theories than to think for two seconds.

China has pretty severe restrictions on game time.
It's single player, so there isn't that extra urge to stay on at all times and play with friends/keep up with other players.
And lots of people went to work or to sleep. I live in the US and it came out at like 8 PM for me. Would've come out at like 11 PM for my east coast friend, and he was in bed by then. I Played until about 3 AM, went to bed and now starting my shift at work.
