This game is hard. Am I underlevel? (Spoilers)
Hello everyone. While I am thoroughly enjoying the game, I seem to be having a hard time on bosses. I am still early into the game and already got beaten bad lol. I reached the bald boss at lvl 5 and literally levelled to 11 just on dying on him and repeating lol. I did manage to kill him at lvl 11 and basically memorizing his moves after dying so many times and using those pillars to daze him when he charges into them. But I wonder if this is normal or I am really just bad at this type of game? I really prefer turn based RPG like dragon quest etc. So am not used to this type of game.

edit: The boss name is Wandering Wight. The one with the big head lol

And don't worry, a good chunk of players aren't going to beat the big head on their first try. The game's all about learning attack patterns and many times that doesn't happen on the first few tries.

If you’re talking about the big blue dude, he’s optional. I just avoided him after dying a couple times. Will come back later.

It's an easier souls like but bosses are still hard if you don't dodge.

don't forget to sprint around to avoid getting hit.

Yes. the one with the very big head just after we enter the second area. So he is optional? darn I wasted more than an hour on him lol. "Wandering Wight" is the name of the boss I think.

I am sure those " souls bros " will tell you its a very easy game.

For ppl like us , who are more used to more conventional action rpg , it is not.

I played a lot of dmc and bayonetta , beat them on high difficulty and I still find games like these frustrating. Overall, I don't think these games are for everyone. The lack of difficulty settings are also concerning , because some of the later boss like the tiger general is much harder and no amount of grinding will get you to beat him.

I died over 15 times against that tiger... yes this game is hard.
And I'm not a souls game player.

Yes. I try to dodge but when he hits me he really hits hard. Especially when he suddenly does the slamming the ground AOE attack just when I was about to charge him lol.

I hope I can adapt. I am really enjoying the game and I really want to be able to finish it. I admit I am more of a traditional turn based RPG gamer guy so my reflex is not the fastest lol.

Ok thanks. I guess you are right. I should just enjoy the journey. I just got concerned because I read some people saying this game is super easy and here I was dying about 10 on a single boss lol.
prusswan Aug 20, 2024 @ 10:21am
that boss is tricky as you cannot stay too far away (its ranged attack is more dangerous)
Bärenpower Aug 20, 2024 @ 10:24am
this game is a soulslike. it means you die over and over again, waste your time learning boss patterns...thats the only things soulslikes do. if you substract the time you died to bosses this game doesnt offer a lot like other soulslikes.
KOOLCOO Aug 20, 2024 @ 10:25am
It's bit different than other souls likes kinda more like Sekiro...

Your main deffense options are dodges and some spells...

- You dont loose your "souls" when you die and you can respec your skills at any shrine/bonfire

Read carrefully the skills descriptions there are some unusual mechanics that may take little time getting used to..
