You have to be doing a light attack combo and then go into a heavy attack that consumes a focus point...Just like it says in the description of the ability

not true you have to do a light attack first, followed by a heavy attack BEFORE getting hit with enemy attack to counter.. its a countering ability that requires timing... which does not say in the ability description... i figued it out yesterday

What? I still don't understand. I'm new to the game. I've tried hitting a light attack to build up my combo and then pressing heavy attack when I have a focus point, but he just does the normal heavy attack. When exactly do I need to press the heavy attack button?

you don't do do a full combo to perform resolute strikes. you basically do this 1st,2nd and 3rd attack animation. you will get stuck into 4th animation if you continue attacking with light attacks.

it only works if you are about to be hit by an enemy. you can look at it as another form of a perfect parry. instead of a perfect parry (which does not exist in this game) or a perfect dodge you press the heavy attack button instead. in other words:

- you are attacking: 1st attack, 2nd attack
- you see the enemy is about to hit you
- you press heavy attack just before you get hit to resolute counterflow in your current atack combo -> in the example it would be: 1st attack -> 2nd attack -> heavy attack to counterflow in one combo. if you pause inbetween the 2nd attack and the heavy attack you would reset your combo and the counterflow would not work

= you will see your character go transparent and a red flash will appear to indicate you successfully counterflowed the enemy
-> you continue your attack combo as if nothing happened

i hope this makes more sense to you.

there is some timing involved, not only because of the incoming enemy attack, but also because you will be locked into your previously started attack animation. takes a little to get used to, so dont spam your attacks (too much).

Think of it as a parry, only instead of the typical parry where you block an opponent's attack, the enemy's attack animation still goes through with Resolute Counterflow, but you similarly take no damage. It's not just that you use the heavy attack in the middle of a light attack combo; you have to use the heavy attack with at least 1 focus point, and just as the enemy's attack is about to land on you.
