It could be an amazing game, but 2 million active players is still an anomaly. Think realistically. A huge chunk of Steam's users are people who only play competitive games like Dota 2 (600k players), CS2 (1.2kk players), PUBG (600k players). They won't care about singleplayer releases, so it's not like Black Myth is attracting that audience. Then where are they coming from? China sounds like the most believable explanation, with the game being about Chinese mythology released by a Chinese company.
For a singleplayer game, only something like GTA 6 could pull these numbers.
Black Myth Wukong checks all the boxes so far of a really good game to me. It works, it plays fantastic, looks good and has an interesting story. Nothing unnecessary is in the game. This game actually is exactly what games should be.
No, YOU read.
I said MOST.
But the facts don't lie, this is the second most played game on steam of ALL TIME on DAY 1.
Whether that is due to the Chinese populace or otherwise it doesn't matter.
This game has SHATTERED expectations and is already a HUGE success...
What numbers are you even pulling up, my friend? 600k Dota, 1.2m CS2 and 600k PUBG? Mate, those games are old as ♥♥♥♥ and it's more impressive to have 1,2m or 600k player playing an old as ♥♥♥♥ game than a fresh release doing 2m+. If you actually compare their peak, it's not that unreal. This game hit 2m+. PUBG literally peaked at over 3m players, 3,257,248 to be exact. To compare a fresh release peak with a games 24hr peak that is old as dirt is not doing yourself a favor. It actually goes against what you are trying to say.
If the game's good, who cares who made it? Game's a commercial success, and I swear people are raging just because they don't want a Chinese company to make good games.
The majority of gamers are anti-woke.
I think the game was going to sell well anyway as it was very hyped up way back in 2020 but I think many of us were sceptical if they would ever deliver anything close to the teaser they put out years back.
Turns out, they actually delivered
