Cannot absorb spirit without guidance?
I just killed wandering wight (my first real boss kill) and I can't absorb this purple soul thing. Is it going to disappear or is it here till I can actually take it?

The purple spirit is gone after I rested. The boss did not respawn. Do I have to start a new game now? Am I missing something important now?

You weren't meant to fight him yet. You are supposed to fight the wolf monk guy with the flaming dual bladed staff.

You can get the spirit later once you progress the story, so don't worry about it for now.

How am I suppose to know that? It's like putting an optional challenge boss in a souls like! It's right there, I could fight it and I beat it. My reward is gone wtf
