Wukong could have done better

So IGN gave Wukong a 8/10, while Meta Critic score is 82 the last I checked. For the amount of effort put into the game, that score seemed a little low. Comparatively speaking, IGN gave 7/10 to games like Flintlock, Dustborn, and Kenzera Zau. So Wukong was only slightly better than games that had much less polish. Alan Wake 2 scored a 9/10, while God of War: Ragnarok and The Last of Us 2 scored 10/10. So my question is: did Wukong suffer because the devs refused to address the concerns of journalists? I feel like maybe Game Science could have gotten some advice from consultants and maybe ended up with a better score? Is this an unforced error by Game Science?

Wukong only got that score for technical issues. He said clear as day "If it ran better, the score would be higher." So technical issues is the only reason it got held back.

Maybe the game simply isn't as amazing as people who never played it claimed it was.
8/10 is a very high rating however. Most games aren't going to be attain the awesome quality of a TLOU2, GoW, BG3, Elden Ring, etc...it's not realistic to expect that.

Game is good for a company making there first big game AND that started with Mobile phone games.
