The amount of awards Last of Us 2 won even though it was a mid ass game with awful story. Not to mention it literally won GOTY over other amazing games including Ghost of Tsushima and Doom Eternal. Complete joke

I didn't play TLOU2, but I did play Ghost of Tsushima. I know they killed off Joel so I didn't want to really mess with the sequel, but it still looked like a technical masterpiece gameplay wise. Didn't God of War and Elden Ring win their years? Baldur's Gate 3 rightfully won last year's as well. I'm not seeing the issue here.

The noticeable difference of the game is that it's developed by a Chinese company and involves Chinese culture, which is the first time of this level. Developing by a Chinese company (normally) means that it priors Chinese than English, which might lower the experience of the English-using judges. Involving Chinese culture further increased the difficulty of translating it into other languages properly (this is called the untranslatability of a language), making the judges who don't know the part of the culture hard to understand as well.

Also would there be some discrimination for a Chinese game? idk.
