IGN is manipulating the win rate of Wukong in its community Face-Off

IGN started a face-off for goty on its website, and it manually lowered the win rate of Wukong because Wukong reached Top 1, which was not the result they want.

The first time IGN posted results on X was Sep 18th. Before that, Wukong was the 4th, and suddently the Astro's score rose fast, making Wukong out of the Top 4. Then IGN quickly posted "the best 4" on X, saying "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is still the IGN community's top game of 2024, with Shadow of the Erdtree, Helldivers 2, and Astro Bot not far behind. "

After the tweet, people started to notice this face-off voting, more and more players joined the voting. Wukong's score rose continuously and reached the top yesterday, with a win rate around 90%.

However, IGN posted "the result" agian at 12:30 today, with the same information in their first tweet. People started to questioning them on X with the screenshots, since Wukong should be 1st at this moment.

Then, instead of deleting the vote this time, IGN chose to manually adjust the data at the backend. Wukong's win rate was 90.4% at around 16:00 (CST, UTC+8), and it fell down extremely fast to 74% at 17:40, meanwhile, Astro's and Elden Ring's data rose fast.
At 18:30, Wukong's rate fell to 70% and it became 3rd, while Elden Ring DLC became the 1st.

I guess IGN simply cannot tolerate the existence of a world, where many people love BlackMyth Wukong.

It wont matter as IGN is pretty much irrelevant on the gaming scene. It will be an IGN GOTY game that someone like me is completely unaware of.

Game of the Year is the most popular and most selling game and is not decided by a vote but by purchasing and playing the product.

Any other game will have to beat concurrent player numbers of around 2.4 million to compete. And that was Steam alone.

They got paid by FF studio and ER studio of cuz they will not let Wukong small studio to win the TGA. They have no credibility at all.
ER DLC is a boring repetition and FF DLC is only 1/3 completion
Astro Bot is a fun game but far from Masterpiece level
Wukong is the one here using New Engine and New models, with real scene filming and most fluent combat and movement among all ARPG games out in 2024.

I'm guessing it's a similar situation with the steam reviews, where a bunch of Chinese bots are flooding the site. Most sites that "try" to do votes legitimately will purge obvious bot farms from the results.

Wukong is a decent game but you people are nuts thinking it's GoTY. FF Rebirth destroys Wukong in scale, in combat, in story, in world, in characters, etc.

Is there not a Steam GOTY award since this is where the majority of the PC gamers is hanging out?

Stellar Blade not being up there is also disappointing. Objectively speaking it's comparable to Wukong, but I personally think its a much better game.

Chinese nationalism is giving Wukong an unnatural advantage in these numbers based polls, though.

Let's be realistic, the 2 nations that are NOTORIOUS for bot farms are China and Russia. There's no way IGN wasn't dealing with Chinese bot farms when managing these polls for Wukong.

If IGN wanted to bury Wukong they would've manipulated the results from the start, and wouldn't have left Wukong as top 4 still. Wukongs sudden drop in votes was very likely a bot purge.

Bot purge is not impossible, but we are talking about a company that gave a review score of 7/10 to Concord and Dustborn here.

Dustborn have around 12 recurring players vs 600k for Wukong.

And Concord is DOA.

7/10.

And Wukong with its 600k recurring players and 2.4 millions peak is scored 8/10 by IGN. I think it is more likely that IGN dont care about what the majority think and they want to manipulate the scores.

Wow, sounds like what IGN will say. It must be Chinese people’s fault, IGN will always be innocent, even though IGN had already done similar thing once before to Death Stranding.
