What kind of theme does the story have?

Basically what kind of story is this? Without spoilers, is it like a story of betrayal, redemption, revenge or what is it about?

It's kind of complicated. Each chapter of the game has its own contained story that deals with certain things, like greed or love or destiny or what have you. I'd say those do play into the overarching story but in a very subtle way. I can't say that I can provide a very detailed analysis personally.

There are two themes imho.

First the Theme of Freedom that drives Wukong himself.

Second is the theme of Greed that consumes and corrupts those who cannot control their desires for power and/or prestige.
