It is because the monkey isn't black and not gay, and the female in this game is not ugly. It is lacking of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), so it is politic incorrect, no chance for any reward.

Golden Joystick award, even GOTY are bloody jokes, real bad ones at that. Filled with journos and peeps with agendas on their minds, it's like who can pander harder to the 'modern audiences'. I have both Stellar Blade and BM Wukong, and Space Marine 2, do the absence of these awards for these outstanding games make a difference? Not even in the slightest....

Edit2: They have an Ultimate GOTY award which I would assume is overall for the year and that isn't available yet for voting or viewing rn.

its kinda a running gag at this point that anything that doesnt doesnt pander to dei or is related to someone "controversial" (cough J.K. Rowling and Hogwarts Legacy) it will never receive awards. and gaming journos will quite literally dock points on scores just because there isnt dei
