Harder in the sense that grinding levels to boost your stats and exploring alternate paths isn't as viable - you can't avoid engaging with most of the mechanics in this game outside of one or two specific things. Get good at dodging and counter moves, or suffer.
Some bosses are a joke if you learn the game. Some will have you angrily cursing the game in frustration and complaining about its design. The game also likes messing with your tools and a few bosses have gimmicks. Which is why respeccing is free.
