Missing 4th focus point after broken shell 2nd stage

I have Focused Attack IV and the Jingubang staff. Prior to the 2nd stage broken shell fight I had 4 spots for focus points, but during the 2nd stage it went back to 3 spots. I assumed it was story related but when I continued journey after defeating him I still only have 3 spots. I've reset skills and requipped everything but that has made no difference. Is this a bug and is there a solution?

You just have the Wukong stance and the 4th point with the gear and only at the start (intro fight with Wukong) and at the end (after you get the staff and get up higher on the mountain). and in the final fight till the memory take the relics to buff himself. Outside of this area you have the 3 Focus points and the 4th is the picture of you stance and can just hold with the Wukong set. And you get back to the 3 stances.
So it is no bug, the Wukongs stance (with the staff over both shoulders) is limited.

Edit: you can unlock the Wukong stance permanently by playing the game 3x with the true ending. This allows you to fill all relics with all 3 talents. So at the start of NG+ 4 you can equip the Wukong set and unlock the Wukong stance by charging up the Staff completely

This is not a bug. In cutscene between phase1 and phase 2 boss suck your power from you. You have to beat it without Wukong stance.

Very situational then. As much as I liked the game going through 3 times would just be far too much of my time, especially since NG+ adds no difficulty at present.

As someone who unlocked the stance I can say you are correct. It is simply a nice to have when you figure in the time it takes to unlock it.
