Like you said it's optional, you don't have to beat him if you can't. Just watch YT video for the good ending.
If you only rely on your staff, of course he's hard.
They are 2 totally different games, which you play in totally different ways and has nothing to do with each other.

This fights dumb for the same reason a lot of fights in this game are; most of the fight involves the boss running away and dancing for minutes on end, forcing you to be passive and mainly trying to bore you into making a mistake.
Just using the first attack in the light combo during the gaps in his combos is the only consistent thing you can do, because it's the only attack that's fast enough to react and actually gap closes. The hit boxes are horrible so its the only attack you can consistently land as well.
Beat Erlang on first attempt
So my view on those two bosses will be completely opposite
I replay it again after recovering my save and he's the best fight in the game, just right at that level of difficulty with my health bar and mana. Also spam resolute counterflow, it breaks his shield ez
My friend only beat Er Lang when he was level 120. Level and gear still matter in this game.
When bosses can have plot armor that stops them from being staggered, or bosses can switch your focus from not lock on targeting them to lock on targeting something you are not trying to look at while you free attack the boss, the mechanics fail...
This is justifiable criticism..
black myth wukong is a 7/10.
it is not bad, but, it is not game of the year...
P.S.Also I’m not talking about ng+ attempts,on ng+ with jingubang and wukong armor, and everything else-every boss drops with a minimal effort,I assume erlang too(haven’t gotten there yet on ng+).
