How Often
To preface this, I ran into a total brick wall when I got to White Clad Noble. I banged my head against him over and over again. I even whent to grind all the mobs from the beginning several times to level several times and still I just could not get past him. I couldn't even consistently get to the second phase.

Eventually out of desperation I reallocated all my skill points into pretty much everything I had not put much into before. And bam, first try after the switch I pretty well smoked him. I nearly took out Elder Jinchi on my first try as well.

Have you found you have to customize for fights. Or, is it once you find the allocation that works for you, that's pretty much what you can stick with?

Once you understand the core of the mechanics point allocation gets streamlined and everything gets a bit easier. I never actually re-sparked for a fight.

Points go into stances so you can get more focus points which means more damage and stamina/martial arts. I wouldn't spec into survival until something like CH6 or NG+. My extra points always went into transformations as I really enjoyed them and the core skills you unlock grant those buffs to you even when not transformed.

That is pretty much what I did. I took everything out of survival and put it back into the immobilize spell, a bit into my transformation, and a everything else went to the stamina dodging stuff. Apparently pumping most of your points into health and stamina was like the worst way to go.

Yeah later you'll have much better options to increase stats like that.

treat this like a music rhythm game

dont spam attack buttons, use individual attack and dodge button to fill into boss' combo

learn resolute counter and skyfall strike (they are ur early game main dmg output)

save stamina, exhaustion will delay ur input by 0.5sec if i remember correctly

u can spam attack combos when boss is knocked off balance / immobilized

learn guangzhi's super attack (6 light attack build up focus just like ur main character, use dodge and follow with heavy attack immediately to release it. it deals huge chunk of dmg)
