Anyone else feeling burned out due to level design?
I'm on chapter 4 now making my way down this giant cave and I'm really starting to hit the point of wanting the game to end. I feel like ever since chapter 3 the level design has taken a nose dive with these huge open areas with multiple branching paths leading to more branching paths and its exhausting. The lack of map or interest points on the landscape don't help either and its so easy to get turned around.
The gameplay is fun but due to how drawn out these recent chapters been, the combat is starting to wear thin since it doesnt change at all and the whole game is just dragging at this point. How do you all feel about the level design? Oh yeah also the invisible walls suck too

I'm in chapter 3 and I'm finding other things to do besides play the game. Sure sign I've about hit burnout and will be looking for another game.

I only agree with "invisible wall sucks"
If I want to explore and suddenly die by jumping off a cliff or burning in lava than let me do it

Nope. But then again I also do other things in between my wukong sessions; tv? exercise? eating? etc?

Money / budget / time is a thing? Probably see more fully exploration in wukong 2.0 now that its far beyond proof of concept and given actual returns.

Chapter 3 felt like a slog because post-pagoda everything looks basically the same. I'm in Chapter 4 now myself and see what you mean. I think at least a stationary map would be a good idea for this game. It isn't open world obviously but it does have some huge areas that make it just as big as many open world games.

Speaking of Chapter 4, I am trying to figure out if I ran into a bug or just need to do something to unlock. There is a big shiny looking treasure chest at the end of the path outside the temple by the first altar. With its placement it is obviously a real lootable chest but it doesn't prompt to open. Is there something needed to get that to unlock or did my open prompt just bug out?

Absolutely yes. Graphics are beautiful, but the level/map design is sooooo bad. I would even say that it is this games biggest negative. I keep getting lost, going through the same place for the third time .... have devs been even playing this damned thing? Why didn't they at least add a map or a compass when they have so stupidly designed maps?

It eventually made me lost any interest in the game. I have better things to do than endlessly wander through badly designed maps and try to find where I should actually go. When you add many optional content for which locations you have zero clues the disaster is complete .... At the end I just cheated my way through in order to finish the game quickly and delete it with a sigh of relief.

edit: lol, this cra*py game cannot be even cheated through :D: D I just keep running thru empty level without a clue where to go. Screw this.

No its great, i love it.
I played elden ring with a map but that also showed all secrets and stuff and it became a chore because without the map i didnt find anything, only good stuff was in major locations.
I can see why the walking might be anoying but we have items to walk faster.
In my opinion this is explorarion done right. No too much, not too little, just the right about of extra power from exploration.
Plenty of builds and utility and very nice looking art and nature.
Elden ring was ugly and depressing, monkey is beautiful and depressing.
