Ok.. this is the last straw "The Great Sage's Broken Shell"
Whoever made this retarded boss must have been living in a monkey phantasy.
one hundread billion combo monkey that steals your potion, perfect dodges and doing the exact same moves as you. It even steals your power and become his.
The only thing he cant do is pull rabbit out of his helmet. This boss is outrageously hard and toxic. i barely make him to first half hp. I cant do this anymore. My hands are in pain and i want to punch the screen <.< How more OP these bosses can become?? Fck this tarzan monkey.

We have a smart one NOT.
I mean it IS a skill issue, that is a true statement.

That said here are some tips...

1. For the gourd thief move, if you keep your distance when you chug a potion, it won't trigger. The gourd thief moves requires you to be close enough for his immobilize to hit you and for him to NOT be actively attacking. So if you keep your distance you can usually drink your gourd safely.

2. You have no choice but to learn this guys attack patterns... He has so many delayed attacks that you can easily get some consistent staff spins in after each move he does then dodge, this will RAPIDLY charge your focus gauge to allow you to prep heavy focus attack.

Do NOT underestimate how fast staff spin can charge focus and how rapidly it comes out... It is a good move to hit him with after nearly every attack since it has no dodge delay.

I beat the boss. Still an unfun boss. Very frustrating design.

Guys i found a way for guard thief attack. just dodge when he starts the animation for freezing you to steal. You can heal and then quickly dodge when you see the animation to deny the steal attack

dude, that whole fight is like getting a training session from monkey king himself, how can you find that not fun?

compare to other boss, he doesnt have weird gimmick, just straight up physical combat. how well you do in that fight is 100% base on your skill level.

I mean it's not fun because he literally just turns off mechanics in the game. He can continue to combo through rock solid, he can just stop you from using immobilize, he can resolute strike your resolute strike...he can also just keep comboing through it so you will get hit right after the first strike. If you charge a heavy without stagger he will dodge it most of the time ( when he dodges and leaves behind yellow clone explosion). When he casts ring of fire the animation is so fast it feels impossible to dodge unless you only do 2 light attacks and never go for the third combo that locks you and prevents dodge. Both Erlang and Wukong have the problem of they also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ combo forever so the fight feels needlessly drawn out as you struggle to find a chance to get attacks in and only 2 lights at a time. Everytime you resolute strike you risk their cheesy attack into grab combo. This is one of the reasons I've come to appreciate Sekiro more and more, you can actually always attack and don't get stuck in boring loops of dodging for 20 seconds at a time.

the phase "you dare use my own spell against me potter" come to mind... what do you expect? he is a master of those spell, not able to counter you when you use those spell on him? well, the dev actually did that.. it's call phase 1 and it's pretty much a joke.

if the dev just leaves it at that, the boss wont be memorable at all.

I mean deciding certain mechanics no longer randomly work is pretty dumb. It's lame that the fight becomes just perfect dodge and get a few hits in and repeat. It's all subjective but I feel the game was the most fun up until Yellow Wind Sage.

In the end I realized how chEASY it was.
1st hes praying on knees, get a 4point Heavy charge iin. Ring? Keep away, 4point charge in. Go into Yellow Loong, See Through his moves, LLHHH rest of time. 1st stage over.
2nd stage I used 1st time ordinary Resolute Strike/See Through. Especially easy while hes dodging ur heavy, wide opening there. Also Yellow Loong transformation, Cloud Step against his spams. Cant even compare to the spam fest Scorpion Lord was, nor to Emerald buggy BUG.
When If figured it out it was one of the easiest bosses.
PS somehow I canceled the double monkeys on previous stage, one was just gone- poof. I guess i hit immobilize on right time...

what? the potion stealing got you?

that's one of my favourite parts of the fight! it adds so much flavour and personality to the fight!

and what's even crazier, is that i've seen other animations in youtube vids that didn't even trigger in my fight and i was like "OMG!!!! THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER!"

if you drink while he is still in his animations or after you imobilize him, you won;t have to worry about him stealing the gourd from you!

but also, for the other players i have this question: does he really even do anything with it? like yeah, you don't actually heal when he does that, but does HE heal? or does the amount of heals actually decrease by 1? cuz i didn't pick up on any of that tbh! if that's the case, THAT IS AWESOME!

I beat him first try. Less is more with this boss. Make sure you're wearing the Serpent Scale chest for enhanced healing in the water. Can also equip tree spirit if you want even more healing. If you don't attack him then he just walks around you like Yellow Loong. Use this time to let the armour heal you before you attack again. Use Spellbinder for attack boost. Don't waste time using any spells.
