Question about the Journal...
Why are so many of the stories in the journal... bad lessons?
Like; be lazy and get rewarded, work hard and never gain anything, etc

The original Journey to the west was Dark and Sarcastic. Poking at corruptions and bad side of society. It was written in 1500 ad.

It is always the holiest looking man doing the worst things, and the closer the band got to the holy land the less pretense the monsters puts on etc. and Monsters have connections with the gods that sent them on the quest to begin with. Poor commoners live sad life but they are not necessarily good people either.

So it is not good guy vs bad guys, lots of tangled relationships. The protagonists are also monsters with bad histories. Throughout their journey they often carved a path of blood, Leaving behind carnage and broken (Monster) families seeking vengeance.

A few of those stories were taken directly from the original text.
Not sure if the rest are made up or actual folk tales from some other text, but it kind paints the same picture, stories are weird and wild, sometime funny with unexpected out comes. With no clear good vs evil.

The Jade Emperor is an *ssh*le, and got away with many, many wrong doings. He's responsible for a lot of the things involving the game's characters and plot.
