New Game + question. (Spoilers)

Hello everyone. I just finished the game but have not defeated Erlang. I wanted to do Erlang in new game plus since I am not good at ARPG so feel like I need the power ups in new game plus to have a chance at beating him haha. Do you guys think it is ok to do new game plus without beating Erlang or will I regret it?

I would honestly go back and beat him in new game, you can get both ending in your first playthrough by first defeating final boss in Chapter 6. Good ending can be achieved by continuing the journey and killing Erlang in secret area in Chapter 3 and then beating final boss of chapter 6 again.

New Game+ is easy at start but I believe it is only because you are simply overpowered compared to Chapter 1 - 3 enemies and bosses. You get few power upgrades in form of extra curio slot and upgraded relics but you get most of your power right at start NG+. The further you progress into NG+, the less advantage you will have as enemies start scaling faster than you gain power.

Can I like go back to try and beat Erland then go to New Game plus? or will I need to beat final boss again to access new game plus with Erlang's weapon, transformation etc.? I am afraid of doing final boss again because I am not good at ARPG and I barely defeated him after like 20 tries :(

is this true? i completed first playthrough with secret ending and im on NG+ halfway in chapter 3 and all the bosses so far have been a pushover and i dont think they are really scaling with me lol you get waaay more lvls if you find all meditation spots and kill all bosses (optional too)... ive literally just shut down my game 5 min ago because i was too bored to continue.... you basically start every fight with immobilize, call monkey clones, charge heavy smash attack and just watch as your clones and you 5x hit the poor boss at least 2 times before they go away... then you mix in wandering wight spirit to hit them between 4k-5k damage, you use flying needle for dmg and crit and finish off in transformation

Well, I could not test it myself yet as I'm in Chapter 3 on NG+. So far, the game is very easy and I died 2 times--first death was to Tiger Apprentice who knocked me out of the bridge to my death. Second death was to a far boar NPC in chapter two where I just dozed off and when I got back I was dead :P

However, I would not risk trying to get both endings in NG+ as your power comes from the weapon you get in NG+ if you kill Erlang, or craft other alternatives, but you do not get any more of those massive upgrades anymore. There are no better weapons than what you already have. Enemies definitely will continue scaling in stats but also move sets. Chapters 4 through 6 bosses have much more complex move sets than what you fought in Chapter 1 through 3.

You will have to use back-up save the game creates if you have already started NG+. I believe there should be back-up saves that go several hours back so pick one that is closest to where you were after beating Chapter 6 final boss.

If you have discovered and cleared all secret areas in Chapters 1 through 5, you will be able to go to Greater Pagoda in Chapter 3 and there you will be able to enter final secret area with Erlang as the boss. If you kill him, I believe you can go to NG+ and you get his spear as a weapon at the start of NG+. However, if you want to see "good" ending, you will have to go to Chapter 6 and beat final boss again after you have defeated Erlang.

No I have not started new game plus yet. I was just wondering if i could bring Erlang's weapon and rewards to new game plus without again needing to finish the final boss. But I think better for me to try and get the true ending since the 6th relic can only be gotten through it. I am really having a challenging time on hard bosses on this game because unlike other games where we can get OP defensive gears and face tank bosses, here we really need to dodge and time our attacks very well. And I do not have good reflex lol. Thanks for the advice.

Update: For some reason I had an easier time with Erlang and one shotted final boss. Don't know what happened lol. Took me almost 20 tries to the beat the final boss the first time lol.

Er Lang is difficult, but it's very much worth it. You get a good amount of bonus content and rewards plus a different ending.

I would go back to the save file and restore to earlier.
file location is
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\BlackMythWukong\b1\Saved\SaveGamesBackup

find the save there and copy the right files to
I:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\BlackMythWukong\b1\Saved\SaveGames\<numbers>

backup the old files just in case you regret, but you shouldn't because without beating erlang you have the bad ending -- to wear the headband again which the whole point of the game is to get it off wukong's head

You go back and fight Erlang before ng+. Not only do you get a couple of good rewards you need to beat him to activate the six relic in ng+.

Guys is it able to defeat erlang in ng+? I just defeated the main boss in ng+ but for some reason I’m not able to access to the erlang boss area! Do u know why?

You might have missed some secret optional bosses. You need to do all secret bosses in each chapter to access Erlang.

Quick question, do I need to do everything in one playthrough? For instance, I’m pretty sure I did EVERYTHING except the 5 carts and golden eye boss and I’m at the final main boss. If I finish the game and do NG+ do I just need to get the 5 cart part of the quest line done?

Don’t miss this boss! If you really don’t want to start over, you can find the BMW save file in the Steam documents and restore it to your pre-clear save. That’s exactly how I did it.
