Asking here if the game is overrated will only really return one answer. Unless a game is so bad that hating it has become a meme you'll find few dissenters in that game's discussion channel.
Most who dislike it just leave.

Yes. But the true problem is not that the game is overrated, is that everything else is so bad that this actually gets a place of honor for what it does best: history, graphics, tradition and overall enjoyable gameplay. No bu-ll-sh-it (well except that unreal engine bull-sh-it that we all already know)

its not finished and poorly optimized. I can run elden ring max settings, but not this game for some reason. As a game, its good tho... but the release is too early.

Well, you wont notice if ur comp is crazy good I guess, top 5 most expensive ones from the store, but thats not everyone.

nah after play i can see why i thin the whole western thing is bait like the invisible walls and how some bosses hit moves 30 ft in the air and dont miss one boss will fight you from behind an invis wall its the game has a ton of cons does not mean its bad but i can see the 7/10 now. and yes the roller input is a bit behind idk what the issue is but game is not the most responsive and for a souls like game that's very important.

so funny dude, even in the prologue there're tons of dialogues, not to mention in the later chapters, next time go find a better excuse

It's not a 10/10 but a lot of titles that sell really well aren't 10s. They are 7s (like this one) that are just good / fun enough and have an audience. Most sales are obviously in China, in the west, the game probably sold as much as any other good / hyped action game. And then some additional sales due to hype and some select graphically impressive scenes in showcases. And I do believe that this year was pretty bad gaming wise with very few good titles coming out (that aren't super niche) so that might boost sales as well.

definition of dialogue : a conversation between two or more people as a feature of a book, play, or film.

GotY for me so far, and I don't see anything replacing it.

My only gripes are the inconsistency in how invisible walls are handled and how some, seemingly random, cutscenes can't be skipped. (Which is only really of a NG+ issue)

Great game, not the best fighting mechanics, would be better if you could change perspectives too, Annoying boss fights when you're not able to recover fast enough after getting knocked down...See's you get pummelled multiple times and killed easily! (To me a bad flaw!) In My opinion the early bosses could be tamed down somewhat to make the experience a bit more enjoyable.

I actually think I personally underrated it. I have said it's a good solid feature complete game and that alone makes it worthy of being great in a land of garbage in 2024. However the more I play the game, the better it gets and i am just starting chapter 3 and I have a lot of hours. The game is way longer than advertised by reviewers if you actually just play it blind looking for secrets. I had to look up a few as well as they are very well hidden.

I also rarely finish even great games but this game is one I not only plan to finish but also plan to 100%. So I don't think it's overrated just based on the numbers and what appears to be modest overall review scores. But I'd probably increase my score of around a 7.5 out of 10 to a 9 of 10 only dinging it a bit for the traversal issues with wall invisibility due to lack of clear boundaries.
