The developers took the time to travel around China and get 3D scans of a lot of architecture and models, as well as to take direct inspiration from when creating models and textures etc.

They also used motion capture for all of the characters.

Beyond that, the animations, the lighting, the physics and the textures are all absolutely stellar. This game has the best cloth physics I've ever seen, especially with Rakshasi's sleeves. Some inevitable clipping issues with cloth physics as good as these, but ultimately very impressive.

Overall, yes, I think this game is currently the leading visual in gaming. It does help that they're using the latest technology though.

Yea i think Super Mario Bros. 2 still has better graphiscs than this game. Its game of the year 2023 for a reason.

I was wondering if they modeled all those intricate details of statues/temples/etc! That's amazing they scanned all that stuff. I gotta look into a BTS for this game. Agreed it's probably one of the best looking games out there right now.

I find that the art direction is also amazing, those between chapter scenes are amazing pieces of art imo.

that's explains why all the sculptures pictures, temples look so real it's insane

RTX sucks in this game, but the graphics are incredible. It's like the only game, outside of Crysis, that's captured a jungle environment photo realistically.

I don't think RTX sucks? If anything, though very expensive to use, it shows how far Nvidia is ahead of AMD in true ray tracing outside of software lumen. Again, this is an example where the art and artist tricks have done a great job reflecting light for years with screen space reflections and other techniques. When ray tracing first debuted, many people would say it looks worse on Vs off. I think you may just be feeling similar to that but I think it's a nice step up from baked lighting.

Overall the game is the best use and optimization of unreal engine 5 and it's full suite of features. A comparable graphically demanding game with a jungle setting can be seen in gray zone warfare. It's like a modern Day crysis remake but it suffers from pretty bad optimization issues. All UE5 games are beautiful but they are demanding and more demanding than most current gen consoles which will likely change in the next few years. UE5 really needs cpus that can catch up to where GPUs got recently. My 4090 is held back by my cpu at 4k gaming and my laptop 4090 is definitely held back by CPU at 1600p. My guess is the next Playstation will have a GPU roughly equivalent to an RTX 3090 which means if it's AMD, it will need likely whatever is next releasing to equal that level of RT performance from it's RT cores.

RDR2, Cyberpunk and Avatar have better visuals.
All those run better to.

The visuals aren't bad by any means, those games are just another level of quality.

this game definitely has the best visual. generally, I can't play any 3d game with the camera moving around, makes me want to puke but not this game, the first and only game. I think it's because it's not just the character model, the environment is extremely detailed as well. I watched a few minutes of new GoW gameplay video on youtube already made me want to puke because the environment texture looks really boring and blend, and lacks detail.

No.

I think so. Sometimes you just stop and look at the scenery. On a PC with everything at maximum, it's probably the most incredible game from a technical point of view. I think it's much easier to make a jungle look photorealistic than a city. Artistically speaking, however, it's a matter of opinion.
