Depends what your definition of *hard* is...
The game does get progressively harder, with some standout bosses that are generally very difficult (Yin Tiger for one).

This game is in a weird place... In terms of souls like games, it's on the easy side compared to others.

In terms of action rpgs, it's one of the hardest out there...

on the other hand, game's good, jus not enough challenging for me atm
hoping that parts 3, 4 and 5 are way more good

Final boss of Chapter 2 is quite difficult. Unless you find and use the item that weakens his last phase.

Chapter 3 isn't any much harder but the final boss you face can pose somewhat of a challenge, took me quite some time til I actually took him down. I just got to chapter 4, I hear it's more wild so...I expect some difficult bosses this time

I'm on chapter 4 rn and I can confirm that atleast one Boss is very hard comparing to the rest of the game, but It's optional ( Yellow loong.)

For me there were about 3 bosses that I would consider to be hard or at least challenging. That it took me a bit to get beat them.

For me I thrive on hard bosses. I get mad but it's almost like a drug to me. I won't stop until I beat it.

The game gets progressively harder, but the true difficulty lies in the secret bosses.

If you just play the main story, I'd say it's maybe a 5-6/10 in terms of difficulty. But once you factor in Yin Tiger, Scorpion Lord, Yellow Loong etc. I'd give it a 8-9/10 in terms of difficulty.

There a couple bosses which gave me slightest trouble. Black Loong was the first and the other was the sand rat fellow (the final boss and not the weak king and son) whose exact name escapes me. Other than that its been mostly 1 and 2 tries. Just finished Ch 3 which was my favorite just because you finally get a huge area.

The challenge of the game slowly ramps up, it starts rather low in Chapter 2 but the last boss of the chapter is quite a challenge if you do not explore everything. Chapter 3 is steadily climbing up and chapter 4 sees a peek in difficulty. There are some bosses in Chapter 4--Yellow Loong & Scorpionlord--who gave me some serious ass-whooping for quite a while.
The challenge starts to flatten and eventually drops as you gain better gear and more levels. If you start using spells such as Immobilize and Rock Solid and put some points into them, you will soon be able to overpower most of the minor bosses and even major ones will not be much of a challenge. Just to let you know, I beat final boss of chapter 4 on 2nd try and chapter 5 final boss went down on 3rd attempt while I struggled with most challenging bosses for several hours.

Yellow long was also very tough, but I beat him rather quickly...

I'm just starting chapter 4, but so far I think the only boss that really gave me trouble was the final boss of chapter 2. He's pretty easy after you find the special attack though.
