IMO, it was a great Segway into the next area. The enemies start hitting harder and become more spongy.
I would agree if he would not just make one spell impossible. That was cheap.
Wise-voice is prime first attempt material. There were several bosses in earlier chapter much more difficult that this big ball of metal.
Why did they nerf wise-voice though? He wasn't even one of the harder bosses.
Edit: it seems people just didn't like the boss in general, the difficulty wasn't the issue. Personally I did the boss and thought he was a cool fight, camera definitely needs some adjusting for that small arena though.
If you want to compare - I would say 90% of elden ring bosses are much worse than this guy. Why? Because at least this game doesn't require you to level your vigor to level 60 minimum just to survive being hit once by the majority of bosses.
