Upgrading drinks advice

I've read there are only 12 Awaken Wine Worm in a run through, which is used to upgrade the drink in the gourd.

In Chapter 2 right now and don't know whether to upgrade the drinks I have or to hang onto the worms for later?

You can only upgrade the base drink and the other blue one that takes 5 of these.. and imho that kinda sucks. So I would upgrade the base to make it better.. it's imho the best heal fully upgraded.

the healing etc in this game is to make the progression harder. it isn't that bosses are hard, they keep you dodging, knowing most ppl will fatigue and mess up ... so they chain a lot - even slow stuff, with high dmg. they restrict your heals, etc to make it "feel" hard.

Thanks, I assumed there would be a stack of drinks to find and upgrade.

Thanks, I assumed there would be a stack of drinks to find and upgrade.

Oh there a lot of drinks but not upgradable.

Was watching some1 doing Noble and then remembered while playing in CH4...
Before going for CH2 boss fight would be the time to upgrade?

Is the pre-order Gourd actually p2w? Or do all basic Gourds have the "1st sip heals full HP" ability? I just equipped the Trailblazer at the beginning bc it looked cool in red, didn´t pay much attention to attached abilities.

Save all your worms for the basic drink. You will most likely only use it in very specific situations at the very end of the game. I mostly used the drink that heals 36% of your health and provide moderate amount of mana. I only switched to the basic drink at the very end when I needed to get more heals and did not care too much about mana.

Its p2w, just like the weapon and armor you get.

It is p2L as in pay to lose if you keep using it past first few areas. Pre-order bonus gourd can not be upgraded, which means it is completely obsolete by chapter 2. /facepalm

Yep, it became obsolete in CH4.
But robbed a little bit of this good achievement feeling. Bc in CH2 boss fight I was always waiting for 20% HP and then used 1st time for 80% heals...
But then again I pre- ordered the game and maybe I would have dropped it in the Noble fight. So let´s call it even:P
