Is there a better spear?

I love the Chi-Bai Spear, it's super fun to use! The move set on it is awesome!

But I already can see that I will have to switch it for a better weapon in further chapters, because as it is it's barely even on par with Kang-Jin Staff.

Is there a better spear later in the game? It would be tragic if there's not.

Tri-Point Double-Edged Spear from the final secret boss (in the final chapter). That weapon is straight up broken with Crit Build/ Spellbinder.

Oh... so basically, we get a spear for some fun in the middle of the game, and then no spear, because it falls off on damage, until the very end and only from a secret? :(

Yes.

Honestly though, I didn't like the spear moveset at all.

It's a shame we can't upgrade weapons in the same manner as we can upgrade armor.
Or at least I didn't unlock that feature yet... If there's no weapon upgrades, seems like a big oversight. Because some weapons have pretty cool bonuses for making builds.
