Controller recommended

I installed the game last night. I got to the warning screen about using a controller, so I went and pulled out my old PS4 controllers. Well, I guess it is time for a viking funeral, because both of those old, old warriors have played their last game.

So, I played for a few hours yesterday with keyboard/mouse. Some of it was a bit awkward (jump) but otherwise it was fine.

Today, I splurged and got a $20 PS4 controller off amazon (same day delivery, yay!).

Gotta say, it does make a HUGE difference in gameplay. I think it is much more enoyable with it, and I'm finding combat to be much more intuitive and fluid.

Playing action adventure games or souls-like on KBM is a self-inflicted torture. I would not touch this any of these games without a gamepad--my preference is PS5 one.

It's honestly not that terrible, it's a little more difficult to get the hang off and controller feels more fluent, but kb&m is fine to use, though I'd recommend only kb rather than adding the mouse if you do that

Agree. ‘Torture’ might be stretching it a bit, but after directly comparing 1 to the other, this game is much more enjoyable for me with controller.

Oh yeah no doubt controller just feels much better, I played dark souls 1 and 2 originally with keyboard, later on switched to controller and had a much easier time because it just felt a lot smoother

I will NEVER understand people that actively choose keyboard+mouse over controller for a game like this... It's just asking to get frustrated IMO...

Personally for me it's the stick, I just can't trade a mouse for a thumb stick for camera control.

I get that for like FPS games, I definitely want to play those with mouse and keyboard.

But I don't mind camera control on thumbstick for games like this.

For me it is really obvious to use PAD for Souls Like games, as they are DESIGNED for this! Same like FPS shooters are DESIGNED for K&M 😁😈

I was gonna try half a controller and mouse, as I have enough buttons on my mouse to replace the rhs of the controller, but think that it's probably better to have the stick for movement.

It is designed to play with controller, with a mouse it seems too easy and is probably why people are complaining it is easy.

I just dislike having to camera control on a crappy little thumb stick, which is controlled with the same thumb I need to use for 4 other buttons, when I have 4 fingers available on the same hand that aren't doing too much.

You lock camera on target and have free thumb...
