Also, there is this combo he does when he goes up in the air and drops on your from above several times. Some of those drops need to be dodged quickly as he telegraphs, but some (i think last ones) are slightly delayed. He does a lot of damage with those, so getting the timing for that combo will help a lot.
I know what all his attacks are. But it doesn't matter because I have to guess on the timings. The perfect dodges are all hit or miss with him so far, and I haven't been able to beat him because even though I know what moves are coming, I can't figure out the patterns or the timings.
Sometimes the game seems to slow down or speed up every time he moves, and I can never tell where the dodge timing is, and for some of his attacks if I don't perfect dodge, I'll get caught by the follow up attack.
I've been dealing with this for almost the whole year, it's genuinely depressing.
if you have yin tiger transform use it when his attack strings start stretch out for a long time to very quickly build up focus using block and then use windwalker and spam light attack
if you cannot handle the combos using pillar stance you can avoid some of the ground attacks when you have 3 focus points
keep in mind this boss, like yin tiger isn't balanced for the progression you are at when you find his boss, go continue the chapter and get more points and pills.
I recommend you watch some Youtube videos that do a detailed breakdowns of the boss moves so you understand the timings.
And like others suggested ignore him for now, finish the chapter and then come back, because he is too hard for when you first meet him.
Worst case scenario just cheese him with the charged attack that I mentioned or use WeMod. It's a single player game, nobody cares... but try the other suggestions first.
Yeah no, i refuse to cheese him.
And the reason I don't know the timings is because every time he moves, the frame rate randomly changes, so what should be 2 seconds delay becomes 3, or sometimes becomes only half of 1.
I have gotten him to one hit from death at least 5 times, and Each time I mistime a dodge and he two shots me. By the point that I get there, I'm out of mana, drinks, and ebon flow is on cooldown.
I told you i've been on this SAME FIGHT, since the game released. I have almost 160 sparks from grinding all the enemies up to this guy every time I get close to beating him, thinking just a little more points will get me over the hurdle. I know every single one of his moves, I know exactly what the tell is. But the Timing is randomized BECAUSE the frame rate is inconsistent.
it's genuinely not a skill issue, it's a hardware issue, and my skill is not enough to compensate for it. Maybe you can beat him on 5 frames per second in between either 120 or 30 seconds of 80 frames per second, but that randomly placed freeze where I have to guess when to input my dodge and hope it resolves accurately is not something I can do.
And i'm not going to respond to you anymore because the mere fact that you suggested cheesing him has made me unreasonably furious with you.
If I wanted to do something so lame, i'd go play yoshi's story in my underwear.
What settings were you using anyway? And what's your hardware?
go to Xu and give him / reset your celestial pill allotment to have investment into the lightning resistant ones. The 1 mind core cost makes them an insane value option and this doesn't only reduce status effect (which lightning also boosts dmg u take... with its debuff) but also directly reduces lightning dmg itself. This stacks on top of armor investment for further reduction. Use the lightning pill consumable, too, proactively not just to remove the debuff but also because it also reduces his lightning damage.
For the boss when he is in his crazier attack patterns if you can't Decoy at the time you will transform. You mentioned being out of Might to transform. If you have those might pills (in case you forgot about them) try using those to recharge might so you can transform again (maybe while in decoy from a prior dodge phase use like 1-2x so later on u need 0 by time u need to transform or can just use a single one instead of needing to animate using all 3 at once).
You could save your monkey clones for the boss when he gets to 40% HP and then summon them, rather than using earlier in the fight, thus making the later part of the fight easier instead of harder. Just use charging heavy attacks when they're summoned as he will always block you and every clone if you use a varied combo light > heavy.
Have you tried not just perfect dodging but moves like tactical retreat + forceful thrust? Its pretty safe, does damage and lets you get free hits in especially if you use immobilise.
its not a crazy hard fight but if you are just an exceptionally slow adaptor/learner then take this grind approach
use yin tiger to tank his air attacks instead of when he is on the ground for ez focus
first visit to the discussions because of this boss.
i am in the same boat. i am legit just putting this game down never to be finished because of this fight. every other fight i have found a way to break through. no combination of different game mechanics can get me through this.
No more advice for you
