Game is unplayable
Before I explain my experience to you all, I want you to understand that I'm not here to bash the game or the devs. I'm only here to share my experience to hopefully find a solution.

So I have around 15 hours in the game and I spent 8 of those hours trying to see how long I can play before crashing. The game was impossible to start and I had to set all my graphic settings to low to get past the prologue. I was able to set my settings back to high right afterwards and the game ran perfectly through chapter 1. But chapter 2 is where I start to have even more trouble. I've been stuck at the first shrine for the past 5 days because i cant progress without crashing. So I went searching on the internet for possible solutions and here is everything that I've done to try and get pass the issue.

-Reinstalled windows
-Launched the game as an administrator
-Launched the game in compatibility mode using windows7/8
-Put the graphics settings to low and cap the framerate to 30
-Lowered the screen resolution along with the super resolution slider
-Turned off ray tracing
-Turned off any form of overclocking (reverted to default settings)
-Updated bios and used default bios settings
-I even took my pc to micro center for diagnostics (I was told that there was nothing wrong with my hardware and that I was having software issues)
-I uninstalled the latest amd drivers (24.7.1) using ddu and installed old drivers (24.5.1)
-I lowered my cpu usage rate via power plan settings
-I verified the integrity
-I installed on my fastest ssd (i have 1 wd blue and 1 wd black)
-I disabled the steam overlay
-Disabled the firewall and antivirus program for the game
-installed visual c++ both x64 and x x86
-Performed a clean boot
-Increased virtual memory
-I uninstalled and reinstalled the game

These are my specs: Ryzen 7 5800x, 7900xt speedster merc, x2 16gb DDR4 of corsair vengeance ram 3600mhz, wd black 1 tb ssd, B-550 A motherboard, 800w 80+ gold certified psu from apevia.

I managed to make it to the duo boss after lowering my settings, turning off frame gen, reducing the super resolution slider, along with the other methods above., but sadly I defeated the boss but the game crashed in the cut scene right afterwards. It's really frustrating because I was really enjoying the game. I honestly don't know what else to do besides ask for more help or just wait for amd to release new drivers.

Hey brother - you are not alone. I have been searching for something to play this game for longer than 20 min without crashing. Ive even reduced my settings to medium and still experience crashing with a 3070. There needs to be an update soon to address this. SO many reports on this game being unplayable.

Just so you know.. I run a 5800X too but constantly turbo at 4.8ghz (watercooled) i had a 6800XT and it did absolutely not perform well, so i upgraded to an Asus strix 4080Ti and since doing so i can run the game on Max everything including max ray tracing without a single issue. Ram is also obviously important i have a B550 gaming plus motherboard that allows max a dram clock of 3600 mhz (once you patch the bios) and since doing so all is perfectly fine.

I'm experiencing crashes with my 12th gen Intel and 4080 super also. We just have to wait to patch it. Heard Epic already got a patch not sure how true that is.

The patch is out on Epic now, here are the patch notes from official website

Not sure if this will help, under Fixed Issues and Improvements: Intermittent application crash or driver timeout may occur while playing Black Myth: Wukong.

https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RAD-WIN-24-10-37-01.html

You can also try uninstalling the game and completely wiping the shader cache before reinstalling the game, though I'm not sure where it's located for AMD GPUs.

VSync OFF and lock frame rate to 60.

Make sure "b1" is properly set in your Firewall settings too. For some reason the game is labeled "b1" when it's running.

I also found this:

AMD crash solved:

Set the opening sequence to the lowest quality setting and limit FPS to 30. After the sequence, the settings can be set back to max without the game crashing.

My specifications:

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X

Radeon RX 7900 XTX

64GB RAM

Hope it helps :)

I have the following specs, which is not totally dis-similar to OP's (that is, a full AMD system):
AM4 R7 5700X3D
Giagbye X570 Aorus Xtreme (BIOS version: F35)
2x 16GB DDR4 3600 Kingston Fury Beast
XFX MERC310 RX 7900 XTX (Adrenalin 24.10.37.04)
Corsair HX1000 Platinum

The game runs just fine, though oddly enough, the built-in benchmark crashes consistently, but the game itself runs just fine at 'Very High' setting, though I'm gonna try it at 'Cinematic' preset just to see how my rig does. Regardless, these are done without RT as RT seems to be limited to nVidia cards...
