Thinking of buying this

Not usually a game genre I'd play but the game itself looks unreal, gives me that old Jet Li monkey king movie vibe to it. I just need some views on the game so far because its either this or the new Warhammer game.

It's very much like that Jet Li Monkey movie. It's funny I had the sudden urge to watch the movie again. It's pure fantasy and comical.

Its a fairly linear game with many mid-boss and boss fights. These boss fights are exceptionally difficult.

You should buy it. Black Myth Wukong is not a "Souls-Like" game. It is more like Jedi Survivor and God of War but without the option to change the difficulty. Some boss fights are challenging but they are not impossible. Exploration is fun because the maps are big but they are still linear so even if you get lost you will eventually find your way. The story is good too. Some people complain that you can't enjoy the game if you don't know the source material. But I don't think that is a valid criticism because you can easily go and read up the source materials on the internet. I mean, the good thing about engaging with contents from another culture is you get to learn about them. People outside of the western world also don't know about Norse and Greek mythology but no one has ever detracted points from the numerous western AAA games which are often based on these western mythologies.

Yes, you liking the game is not related to the game. That makes sense if you don't think about it.

Some bosses are pretty challenging, and if you're not used to that it might be rough. But I also find it to be generally easier than Elden Ring and Dark Souls. Overall combat is fun though, and they give you enough options to help keep it fresh.

The story is cool, but can feel disjointed at times.

The environments are beautiful. They are structured in a fairly linear way, which I don't mind. The game does throw a lot of invisible walls at you which can be annoying.

In terms of art direction, this game is absolutely stunning. 10/10. The clothing, the architecture, the music. Everything. And between each chapter there are wonderful animated music videos.
