IGN Japan gives Black Myth: Wukong a 7/10
Apparently Japan didn't fall for the memes, good on them.

That literally makes no sense ever.
THe people reviewing the game aren't the United States Military.
That is literally a non sequitor.

How in the world could you come to this bizarre of a conclusion!?

Also, the amount of U.S soldiers in Japan is significantly less than the entire Japanese population.
So, they don't even register as anything beyond maybe 1% of the total 120 Million plus population of Japan.

So, under no circumstances can you ever use Americans as a valid metric here, when you're talking about Japan.

Wow Sweet Baby Inc reach is long indeed. No wonder assassin's creed shadow got approved in Japan.

What the hell are you talking about!?!??!
THis score is respectable and clearly does not have any connection to Sweet Baby Inc.
WTF??!?

Also, they would rate games like this at 6 or 5 out of 10.
Seriously. Why attack Japan here?

If Assassin's Creed Shadow didn't take art and didn't properly credit it, it would have been less yelled at by Japan in the first place.

THe black Samurai is less of a concern.
Even if the real guy wasn't possibly a Samurai.

Seriously, where the hell did you get SBI here?!?!
You work for sweet Baby Inc ?

You seem to be under the impression that the IGN Japan staff/reviewers are all Japanese.

They aren't. It's run by a white dude.

Same as IGN South East Asia.

They tow the company line same as anyone else. It's why they are installed.

Except if that was the case they'd be giving it a much lower score.
IGN is not the same as the local branches of the company.
That isn't how that works.

Good grief.
IGN did not like this game.
IGN Japan did.

Even if it's somehow run by a white guy, which would be really random, it doesn't change that they are different than IGN's normal people.

It is run by a white guy. And it's exactly how it works. Why do you think they are installed?

Chief Editor and Editor are both white.

If you are unfamiliar with how journalism works, every story gets run through the Editor, then the Chief Editor, even if it was written by a Japanese staffer.

Oh really? Why is IGN Japan operating under a white person instead of their native japanese people? And even if their opinion was honest, it is only one person who wrote the review, which does not generalize to the japanese population as you said the amount of US soldier is less than Japanese population so we should learn more reviews from the general population instead of one media that 'could' be biased

Well that is good to know.

I never trust IGN reviews regardless.

Except IGN and their localized Japanese company is not the same.
IGN hated this game.
IGN Japan did not.

Which means you can trust IGN Japan more than IGN.

IGN gave it 8/10

Japan IGN gave it 7/10

What are you talking about?

You don't even own the game. Why would I even argue with you when you are at this forum just trying to troll and talk crap when you yourself don't even have any experience playing the game?

8/10

"Despite some frustrating technical issues, Black Myth: Wukong is a great action game with fantastic combat, exciting bosses, tantalizing secrets, and a beautiful world."

Is that hated?
I just think it's time people stop giving a damn to IGNs reviews. They're an entertainment company made up of amateurs and activists. It's amazing that it can survive this long with so many controversy.

Whoops. I got confused about IGN and this game.
Confused it with another group.
THat's on me.

I'm literally not trolling.
And there is no law that states I have to buy every single game I want to comment on it's forum about.
WTF are you smoking.
Good grief, the toxicity here.

Did Sweet Baby Inc hire half of you?
LOL.

I'm leaving the thread, that's fine.
Bloody heck, people being offensive to the Japanese here.

I could see this being a 7. No issue with that. Still having fun though. Personally an 8 for me right now.

This is the 3rd paragraph from IGN review that I can relate from community posts and the YT vid I watched.

There is an impression that something fundamental is missing in both combat and exploration, which makes it a rather bland action RPG. However, despite the unprecedented number of boss battles, each one is carefully crafted. The game is extremely luxurious, with maps full of stunning scenery thanks to its top-notch graphics and unique design sense, and super-high-quality 2D animations inserted at every turn.
I actually agree with them here.

A lot of the Spark upgrades, for example, are REALLY boring. Most of them are simple stat increases like "Increases defense slightly." It doesn't feel impactful or exciting.

Hell, the game is even missing some simple attack upgrades seen in basically every other action game, like pressing light attack twice, waiting a second, and then hitting it again to trigger a new attack (X, X, pause, then X or X, X, X, pause, then X). The game could have benefited greatly from these very simple additions because you're mostly just mashing the X button and seeing the same animation play throughout the entire game.

It's not worth more than 7 with only one weapon and barely any combos
LazyAmerican Aug 25, 2024 @ 10:47pm
Even with 0 knowledge of the source material, I still find the game intriguing none the less.

The stances are what make it interesting, and are intended to be changed on the fly.
