Erlang ofc is not the final boss. Like you said.. beating him just makes sure that you get the true ending of the game after beating the really good broken shell endboss fight.
Erlang still is the hardest boss in the game tho. Absolutely nuts and what they did right after "his" fight was so unexpected and awesome .. that instantly put this game on top of my favourite games of all time.
what you mean it unlock a different ending?
If you beat erlang first and then go to fight the final boss the ending is different.
Go defeat Erlang then go and fight endboss again. Done... both endings... one journey.
It's tedium.
