A file called D3D Driver Byte
Also really nice to be able to enable VSM...
It doesn't even run that bad, no idea why they didn't use them for the final version.
The only thing is that you have a little bit of extra traversal stutter with VSM.
But otherwise fine.
Now i can just run at 1440pDLSSquality, without the oversharpening and better shadows, great.
It's not your CPU. If your CPU or HW were unstable you will face the "out of memory error" CTD during the shader precompilation process on launch or recurrent crashes during gameplay or level/chapter loading, and the same in other games.
The stuttering/FPS drops issue is totally game-related.

I assume a lot of these big stutters will happen when RT is turned on at high settings and there is a bottleneck in the system, usually CPU side. I run the game at 1440p with RT on low and mostly very high settings and the traversal stutter is minor.
What fixed it is..
1. Disabling hyper threading in the bios (main culprit)
2. Also disabling the e cores in bios
Now you have only 8 p cores and strangely enough.. no more fps drops..
I made a post about this same spot a few days ago, except no video. I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one. This, sadly, is not the only spot in the game this happens. I've seen it in Chapter 3 and chapter 4 has a different kind of fps drops than this. No way to mitigate it.
