Massive FPS drops at certain places SOLVED
Solved by disabling hypertheading in BIOS
Idk why, but sometimes fps drops to half of normal out of nowhere. For the most time i have over 100, then go to some point on the map an booom! get 30-50 with massive stutters.
13700k rtx 4080 32gb ram

Probably dying in just couple of places of the entire game? That only game of all i have installed? I know the Intel have some problems now, but don't think i got this one.
Try deleting your shader cache. SHoud be under C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\b1\Saved
A file called D3D Driver Byte

But didn't have any issues.
Personally though i do not use framegen, as i think i can just feel the latency it causes. I now play with RT off at 4kDLSSperformance cinematic settings on a 1440p monitor...
Using DRS can mitigate a bit of the game's oversharpening.
Just a heads up you can manually adjust the sharpening with a simple drag and drop mod. https://github.com/Lyall/WukongTweak
Genius, alot of thanks.
Also really nice to be able to enable VSM...
It doesn't even run that bad, no idea why they didn't use them for the final version.
The only thing is that you have a little bit of extra traversal stutter with VSM.
But otherwise fine.
Now i can just run at 1440pDLSSquality, without the oversharpening and better shadows, great.

For those who still wondering, i even just set my BIOS to full stock, absolutly intel recommended. Not working, same issue. Bigger temps on CPU cause I had it undervolted and boosted a bit, but no other differences. The heaviest game i now have to complain is CP2077 with path tracing, it plays as normal as always, so no my CPU is not dying, at least right now.

It's not your CPU. If your CPU or HW were unstable you will face the "out of memory error" CTD during the shader precompilation process on launch or recurrent crashes during gameplay or level/chapter loading, and the same in other games.

The stuttering/FPS drops issue is totally game-related.

Just installed the mod from Nexus, the first in trending. It didn't solve a problem at all, but now stutters are much shorter and fps didn't drop lower than 90, before the lowest i got was like 35 or something. I still see these lags, but now it's playable at least.

FOR DEVS if they are watching. Tried to localize the exact spot. All settings low no motion blur DLSS75% no framegen. With lowered settings it's harder to get but still consistent in that exact area.

I think it happens at locations where it is loading additional areas your walking towards.

I have minimal stutter when traversing, it is there but it is nothing horrible. I have one case where I loaded the game and got massive double stutter that pretty much froze the game, unpaused it momentarily and froze it again. I quit the game, loaded back in and it never happened again.

I assume a lot of these big stutters will happen when RT is turned on at high settings and there is a bottleneck in the system, usually CPU side. I run the game at 1440p with RT on low and mostly very high settings and the traversal stutter is minor.

Well, apparently this game isn’t very optimized for our CPU it seems, I have a 13900kf and I get horrible drops also..

What fixed it is..

1. Disabling hyper threading in the bios (main culprit)
2. Also disabling the e cores in bios

Now you have only 8 p cores and strangely enough.. no more fps drops..

The worst part of it is my broken experience, i'm now in the chapter 2, playing with cinematic settings, yet this area in the beginning was the only one which almost made me drop the game and wait for patches, because its hard to miss then your game turns to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slideshow.

I made a post about this same spot a few days ago, except no video. I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one. This, sadly, is not the only spot in the game this happens. I've seen it in Chapter 3 and chapter 4 has a different kind of fps drops than this. No way to mitigate it.

Well, that's kinda sad, I thought I got through it, but now looks like I'll meet this ♥♥♥♥ again.

Something similar is happening to me as well. For about 10-15 mins, I get around 80 fps and suddenly it drops to around 20-25 for no reason at all. My CPU and GPU temp remains at 60-70 so it's not due to throttling or anything like that. Driving me crazy.
