I prfer resolute strike + Skyfall strike in general, its hard to time an actual resolute counterflow
Not really, some bosses can't be staggered and they hit very hard even if you have the skill to reduce dmg. Also I notice the hp recovery on consuming Focus is only the initial resolute strike not the follow up.
Yin Tiger is the fight where I have to stop being greedy using the follow up. Yellow Brow on the other hand I can just go ham on him since he's easy to staggered.
You know you can activate resolution strike when both ends/tips of for staff light up red/glowing. Pressing heavy attack when it glows at tips will trigger it
While I don't think it's useful for all bosses, it can be useful for many bosses that attack a lot. I do feel like the follow up after the counter is often not worth using though. If you time the counter right and have investment in that skill that gives you focus when you use it, it's great. But that follow up will likely leave you with 1 point less than you had and the damage it does is kinda meh a lot of the time. But if you instead just keeping hitting the boss and do a counter where you can, you'll be able to build up to 3-4 points rather easily and deal a ton of damage. Especially useful combined with skills/equipment that heals health when spending focus points, since you'll mitigate some if not all of the damage you'll be taking during your slow, but extremely powerful heavy attack.
but this window is very small . usually not perfect dodge would still get u out of the way without any harm. but not perfect resolute counter might get u "flying" if boss use heavy attack
Skyfall Strike is the second combo of Resolute strike, you hit another heavy attack right after your resolute strike. Yes, Resolute Strike is basically your counter to an enemy attack. When activated, it allows you to dodge the incoming attack and counter with a strike, all with a single button press.
To answer the op question, to activate Resolute Strike, you need to have one focus and be in the middle of a light attack combo. Then press heavy attack as the enemy is attacking you.
