Avoiding controversy

There's a lot of controversy surrounding this game with many journalists calling for boycotting and even pirating Wukong due to many diversity complaints. I don't understand why Game Science didn't just incorporate pronouns at the start of the game like many other modern games. The devs could have avoided a lot of the negative sentiments and headaches. Seems like an unforced error on Game Science's part.

But what is not diverse about this game? It has monkeys kings, celestial court deities, humanoid wolves, even more humanoid wolves, other types of wolves, rats, tigers, dragons, bears, undead, bats, other weird cosmic Chinese horror stuff, it has tons of diversity!

It's a veritable anthropomorphic cornucopia!

That's plenty diverse for me.

But again, this game does not have a character creator, you literally cannot choose what pronouns NPCs or whatever are going to utilize when speaking to the player character. Every individual players preferred personal pronoun is irrelevant to the way this game is meant to be enjoyed... I don't understand, I'm confused now.

It's a Chinese game, largely intended for a Chinese audience.

The developer never intended to cater to Western audiences -- and why should they? The Western game industry is an absolute juggernaut with companies like EA, Ubisoft, Rockstar, Activision, Bethesda, and so many more. They make enough games to appease Western audiences.

China releases ONE "triple A" game for their own people, and Western gaming journalism is in an absolute uproar.

Frankly, it is absolutely arrogant and unreasonable to place such demands on any Chinese developer. Such demands are from the same "superior and enlightened" mindset that the western world has been pushing onto the rest of the world for centuries.

Somehow, the Westerners who so strongly push their ideologies onto other countries (and their people) are the first ones to tell you about how oppressive the western world has been for so long. They are completely blind to their own hypocrisy.

They may say, "well uhh it used to be religious conversion stuff but its secular now so its cool lol" ...but none of the pushers seem to care if it's "cool" or not to the people they're trying to force it on.

Lately, I've taken to simply calling it "the Woke-quisition". That's all it is. Secular evangelism, born of arrogant superiority.

Respect to China for doing their own thing.
