Stop saying it’s not a souls like
*Edited for correction and clarity*

Why are people even arguing this?
It very clearly was inspired by souls game genre with things such as.

-Will system is much like the soul system that you collect from enemies
-Single difficulty and challenging bosses you gotta learn attacks and patterns for
-Bonfire like checkpoints that respawns enemies
-Dodge based melee combat with spells and level system
-Limited use heals that recharge at checkpoint (gourd = flask)
-Large stunning environments with interconnected areas, shortcuts, and secrets
-Huge variety of unique enemies and bosses with their own attack patterns
-Gear that visibly changes how you look

Yes these type of things are in many games before souls games, and yes it’s its own thing but soulslike is the most accurate genre to describe it vs other genre types.

will is not souls in any way. You do not drop them when you die or level with them. Without that mechanic no game can be a souls game. It literally the definition of the game. The rest you mentioned is in any action game. SO no you are wrong...its not a Soulslike.

Will = currency used for upgrading, buying items, and upgrading gear it’s very similar to souls. Except yes you don’t lose them

It is not a Soulslike at all.
Lies of P, Lords of the Fallen, The Surge 2 are Soulslike games.

Will = currency used for upgrading levels, buying items, and upgrading gear it’s literally the exact same as souls. Except yes you don’t lose them
sorry but it does not upgrade levels. Player experience does. It is simply money.

Skill levels? Magic levels? Transform levels? stats levels?

Edit* oh yea those are sparks. But still you use them for leveling gear and spirits like you do with souls.

personally i disagree,
that's saying it is the only important factor of any souls game. but that's not the case.
he is in fact pretty spot on (edit: with the factors of what would make a game souls like)

personally the biggest factors to me are
-Difficult bosses that require you to learn and master the mechanics and patterns
-Bonfire like checkpoint system
-Limited heals like flasks

Not every game is going to have every single factor the same (that would be rather boring)
so if it has enough of the factors it makes it a souls like to me and many others.

(I would like to point out I'm arguing what makes a souls like. not if this game is a souls like)

you have no idea how the game works.
Enemies don't respawn when you use the campfire, it's that when you die, it literally loads your last checkpoint and the enemies haven't died yet. You cannot use the bonfire to repeatedly respawn enemies and farm them. You don't drop 'souls' when you die. Almost everything else you mentioned is present in most Acrtion RPGs, including God of War

EDIT

nvm I just saw your replies to the 'will' currency, you haven't played the game, you are just making generic stuff up after seeing a couple of video, gotcha

That’s literally how it works you spend will and sparks to level your stuff up which you get when enemies die aka souls

I'd argue that's the *broken* set-up that most "hardcore players" would avoid. I mean, couldn't you just rock most of soulslike games with a ranged/magic build? Oh, but so many will end up with a melee build because it's more challenging and fun.

Having more heals from the gourd is moreso an accessibility upgrade for the hardcores not just putting +dmg in their drinks.

there are no bonfires .They are just checkpoints like a 1000 other games. Difficult Bosses are in manyy games. Is Bayonetta a Soulslike. Is Hogwarts Legacy. Is Baldurs Gate 3 . All have checkpoints. I could go on endlessly.
