Having a hard time finding new spells/transformations, any help?

I just got to the great pagoda and i feel like im missing out on alot of new stuff. I went back to fight some bosses in chapter 2 but i still didnt get much from that. Im also still stuck on the very first transformation and I can only cultivate 1 spirit, have i just not looked enough into those mechanics?

also, ive been stuck on the same clothes since the end of chapter 2

if i remember correctly Chap2 has one transformation that can be found, into a stone yaoguai. rather lame if you ask me, i didnt like it at all and kept playing with the fire wolf one. in chap 3 to chap 4 i've found 4 or 5 more transformations, so you can find new ones soon (:

as for armor chapter 2 gave you access to i think 2 new sets and you'll get access to another one half way through chap3. until then i've also used stuff from chap2 (:
