wait until you see 2nd half chapter 4
- Don't overdo combos
- Don't use Heavy Attack, doesn't worth it if you absolutely sure you won't get hit
- Use freeze skill whenever you can.
- Use transformation and do heavy attacks, if you are short on health
- Do not overlap your attacks with dodge, dodge is the priority
IF you still can't beat it despite above, start over, you need to know his combos and specific pace, Katana attacks are especially painful.
His other attack is a 3 hit combo, 2 punches and a sweep. His 2nd punch is always delayed, so wait for a bit and don't just mash dodge.
He has a sword combo too, but that one doesn't do much damage.
Freezing him in place works wonders. Freeze him, build up your meter, hit him with a heavy attack, then survive till it recharges.
Also, if you use pole or thrust stance, there are many moments he'll slowly stroll towards you from a distance, just charge heavy till he starts a move and smack him
Especially good if you have a loaded up Wandering Wight and Immobilise, you can chain stuns and then switch to the Burning Blade dude to charge his meter and do his Heavy attack for more damage + burned state.
Anyways for the original question.... By that time you should get the Black Winds skill, it's pretty good in this fight.
If you still can't beat him, the other thing you can do is just farm mobs to level up and get more sparks. Every time you rest the mobs spawn back.
That comes later, it's pretty OP.
