Actually, you are wrong about the move sets all being the same. most of them are infact, the same but there are a few which have different move set. for example, The Spear has an entire different combat animations than the staff.
You unlock it in chapter Three
There is limited selection of weapons but stances will provide some variation due to different heavy attacks. This is action game focused on fast-paced combat with aim at keeping your combo attacks going and weaving in heavy attacks wherever possible.
I was about to say there are only sticks but poster above just confirmed there are also truly different weapons with new move-sets. This is nice even if I do not mind sticking to the stick.
