But it won't cancel I want to say the third hit (flurry of small attacks) from the light combo.
So be weary of the flurry and you should be able to dodge cancel most everything else.
There is literally a passive you can get in the talent tree, that unlocks dodging while keeping combo .. lol
Heavy attacks take forever if you don't take advantage of them at specific points in a light combo, though.
Dodging will cancel most ATTACKS, except for the flurry of blows, which I believe is the third attack in the light combo. That is the ONE attack that dodging does NOT cancel.
It will not cancel heavy charged attacks or varied hits.
The skill you are talking about allows you to dodge without interrupting your combo attacks. It has nothing to do with cancelling animation and it definitely does not do any cancelling. It is absolute must-have talent as it let you keep your combo count after dodge, which is important as later hits in the combo do a lot more damage and also gain more focus.
You can not cancel attack animation and you will have to wait until current ongoing attack animation finishes. This is not huge issue on light attacks other than the flurry, 3rd attack in a chain, which is rather long. The finisher attack can not be cancelled either but you get damage reduction during this move, which can even be improved by certain talents, so it does not matter too much.
The rest of the light combo can be dodged out of at any time.
Don't listen to them TC, that perk doesn't do what you want it to do, try it yourself and you will see how it is only to keep the combo not to cancel the animation.
This is the answer.
