Poll: Prefer English Dub or Original Chinese Voice?
For non-Chinese speakers, which option do you guys prefer in this game?

1. Original Chinese voice with English text (subtitles, user interface, etc.). Or,
2. Everything in English?

Play in chinese and pay attention to the subtitles.

The English dub overly flowery language might make you not understand what they are saying instead of reading.

Props to the Eng dub for not absolutely butchering the chinese names though.

I tried to play with chinese voice at the start of the game but couldnt read the text due to font color so i've played english since.

I'm chinese
I use English sub and Chinese dub.
Because my 文言文 (old chinese) is really bad since I grew up in Europe.

For period set-pieces I prefer their language. Helps with immersion.

Playing in Chinese, English subs.

Definitely Chinese voice, though English subtitles.

The only game (where options were available) set in another country that I've used English Dub is Ghost of Tsushima, but this is because I just couldn't ignore the fact that the facial animations were clearly English. The Japanese dub felt way too unnatural, and it detracted from the immersion and story seeing faces not match the voices.

GoT is basically Hollywood version of Japan so you aren't missing anything out of it.

Seriously, Rise of the Ronin PC is gonna mog that.

English dub sounds better. For e.g. the shrine keeper in chapter 1 sounds like an old dude in english, while in chinese, he sounds off.

I always do English dub with subtitles

I have a strange take, that is if you have to read subtitle, it might be better to just play in english, because the subtitle are directly taken from their english lines and has completely different meaning from their chinese lines.... this isn't "fansub" where the subber try their best to preserve the meaning, they just put the english dub there.

I do feel you should try the chinese dud first just to have a feel of what it should sound like, but play most of the game in english. me personally I understand chinese just fine so I just use chinese dud, with english sub just for the extra lol when i see the translation fails.... :-]

English voice sounds better and more fit into character imho
but lost a lot in translation to Chinese original of course, I feel they opt to prioritise it to sounds more fluent and better than 1 to 1 translation.

Chinese all the way

subtitles are too small, might miss some clues or dialogues especially during combat

Chinese w/Eng subs. I can't stand English dubs on non-English products. It does mean taking my eyes off combat here and there but it hasn't caused me issues.
Not_Tola Aug 23, 2024 @ 12:45pm
I can't force myself to look at subtitle every time they speak, so I put in English dub.

Using english voice. So far, the voice acting is pretty good. Can't complain their efforts of the voice actors.
