Not to discourage new players but the yellow wind sage, whiteclad noble or any bosses in the first three chapters are easy & intended to get you used to some of the unique philosophy to boss fights in the game.
My top 4 bosses in terms of difficulty are:
1) end game boss Wukong
2) another near end game boss I won’t spoil in chapter 6 I think
3) Yellow Loong in Chapter 4 (should be the last loong you fight and it’s technically an optional secret boss where you fight I think 4 loongs from chapter 2 onwards)
4) chapter 4 end boss last phase lightening spell spam & stun locking you to guaranteed death if you’re not properly prepared.
These 4 bosses are hard due to:
1) Game Science purposely uses reading player input to essentially guarantee free hits/big counters from boss during certain phases
2) these 4 bosses all have significant more randomised attack timings, tells & patterns. That is you can die 30 times and each time boss attack moves/timings are ever so different.
Don’t let all this discourage you as this game definitely is challenging mostly in a good sense once you’ve beat it.
Definitely the most boring boss fight, poorly designed, unless it was intentionally designed to frustrate and waste your time. Which seems to be prevalent in games these days.
I love the way he repeats the same move set constantly, feels like an unfinished, last minute addition.
Though to be honest, there is 1 boss fight that I got in 1 attempt that may prove to be up there as well in NG+. It's the optional tiger boss from the drums. I was already near the end of chapter 3 when I found out about it and went back to do him and as such was grossly overpowered compared to what you'd normally be there. I beat him 1st try, but he almost got me and I was having a very hard time avoiding almost anything he threw at me. I only won because I did a crapload of damage.
2. Emerald-Armed Mantis - ultra aggressive with damage output that put anyone on a back foot
3.Yellow Loong - challenging but actually enjoyable to fight as he has straight-forward combos and attack patterns.
4. Scorpionlord - very nimble and super aggressive, this fight hugely benefit from using Immobilize
5. Yellowbrow - relatively easy fight but absolutely amazing design and setup
