Soul vs Souless, Sekiro vs Wukong (HOW do people defend this)
Black Myth: Wukong is shaping up to be the most uninspired cash grab of the year. It’s like someone looked at Sekiro and thought, "Let’s copy that, but slap some Chinese mythology on it and call it a day." There’s nothing original here, just a bland imitation hoping to ride on the coattails of a better game. Sure, the setting is different, but that’s about it. They took what made Sekiro great, stripped away all the soul and finesse, and ended up with something that feels like a cheap knockoff (see Erlang (BM:W) & the white dragon (Sekiro) being the same environmental ♥♥♥♥). It’s almost embarrassing how transparent the whole thing is—trying to steal Sekiro’s glory without putting in the work to make something truly unique.

And let’s talk about that combat, which is supposed to be the backbone of any game like this. In Sekiro, every hit had weight, every clash of swords felt visceral. But in Black Myth: Wukong? The combat feels like you’re swatting at air. There’s no impact, no "punch" behind your moves. It’s all floaty and weightless, like you’re just going through the motions. They tried to mimic the precision and intensity of Sekiro, but it falls flat, leaving combat that’s more tedious than thrilling. You’re not engaged; you’re just slogging through it, waiting for something interesting to happen, but it never does.

And don't even get me started on the environments. They’re the epitome of Unreal Engine slop. Yeah, it looks pretty at first glance, but it’s all surface-level. There’s no depth or character to these settings, just generic, copy-paste environments that lack any real personality. It’s like they threw a bunch of assets together, called it a day, and hoped nobody would notice. But we do notice. It’s all flash and no substance, just another example of how the game tries to coast on visuals without delivering anything meaningful underneath.

This game’s going to be forgotten faster than it takes to finish the tutorial. Give it two weeks, tops, before it fades into obscurity faster than helldivers 2. What’s amazing—and honestly, kind of sad—is how people are bending over backward to defend it. Maybe it’s the hype, maybe it’s the desperate hope that it’ll be good, but at the end of the day, Black Myth: Wukong is just a shallow attempt to capitalize on the success of a better game. And once the honeymoon phase is over, everyone’s going to see it for what it really is—a forgettable, second-rate clone that doesn’t deserve the hype.

This game is just a horrible Chinese knock off of the Soulsbourne games but with a monkey. I was burnt out of souls-like after the horrible Elden Ring DLC and got this game under the impression that it wasn't a souls-like per the developers. Well, we were lied to but shills and fanboys get all up in their panties when you tell them otherwise.

Elden ring is a good game, this slop is just the cheap knockoffs you'd see in a store.

Oh please if you want to ♥♥♥♥ on ♥♥♥♥ games, bring up Starfield and Baldur's Gate 3.

Stop divide and conquer good non-woke games.

Or its simply fun...? most crpgs are designed terribly with bad graphics (see POE) or being from 30 years ago

Case in point.

Naw CRPG should keep their old and gritty design. BG3 "fans" will not play other CRPG either ways.

people are easily deceived by shining graphics, that's why modern gaming sucks, people have no standards anymore for quality gaming experiences

Souls game takes no skill and are rehashed over and over again. Just mash your face all over the roll button. Wow much skill
uraizen Aug 21, 2024 @ 6:34pm
I don't think we've played the same games.

I'm not giving you a jester.

this is not a souls-like
enviorment is on a demon souls dark souls level (not bad)
it took fromsoftware 17 years to get on a demon souls level and overall 30 years to get on a eldenring level, yes eldenring is beautiful.
i have played most of fromsotfware games from the playstation till today, so i can say im a fromsoftware fan.

however black myth wukong aint souless, its far from it.
some things are a bit questionable, but it also has unique features

my biggest issue is with the controls... they seem to be a bit "floaty" sometimes they work but sometimes they lag. (Not to mention being stuck in a death-sentence combo with no way to get out) I wish they added a "parry" button as well since that pole/stick can defo parry!
Naamtar Aug 21, 2024 @ 6:57pm
Game doesn't even have a parry in it bro, the hell you talking about? Lol.
