Can i play as a female monkey?

I want to ask is it possible if i can select female as a gender during character creation?

I don’t like to play as male since i’m a female because it feels awkward to me.

The game is based on Sun Wukong from the novel "Journey to the West". It would be awkward if he was all of a sudden a female wouldn't it?

I get it, I didn't want to play as Aloy in Horizon, but still loved those two games regardless. Hope it doesn't bother you too much and you can still enjoy the game. It's great so far in my opinion!

The protagonist's gender is not specified in the game, so it will be whatever gender you want it to be, even a wallmart bag.

Sorry but it is not possible. The reason is most likely related to Sun Wukong. Sun Wukong is a character from the novel called "Journey To The West". And in the novel Sun Wukong is a male "monkey king". Also he is a prominent cultural and folkloric figure across Asia. So, having a female version of "Sun Wukong" is not acceptable by the people who made him a Myth. Also, since game is revolving around the myth, changing main character to the female would not be the best idea.
