No it is not close to Elden Ring in any way but its not trying to be. Its linear, its for most part easy, and story is less obtuse. Game is good for what it is and not its fault players projected onto it what they thought it would be. I have long list of complaints but the fact it is not Elden Ring is not one of them.

There appears to be generally very low trust in traditional games media at the moment, I think Youtube and Twitch is what is driving this game's marketing most right now, more than any other big title before. Good for them, those modern platforms have much bigger coverage than traditional media does.

A 8/10 from an honest Youtuber is worth more for a publisher than a 10/10 from a traditional games Western media source simply because of how publicly corrupt those tiny cliques are.

Whats your point? Its not as good as elden ring but those devs made a living out of soulslike games for 20 years but they still make mistakes.

Wukong is still one of the best games of 2024 and goty contender, even if its because there are fewer games this year.

Its also part of the blacklash against dei ruining games. The star wars and assassins creed games this year should have been goty contenders as well but i think they are just flops waiting to release.

Like in any real life aspect, you vote with your wallet in what direction entertainment should go.

Can we also speak about how the game is 60 euros at release? And not 100 dollars like space marine 2 or star wars outlaws?

I give it 8/10 as well but compared to the 0/10 or maybe 2/10 i would the ubisoft games, this game is an international treasure

I've been playing souls games since Demon Souls for the PS3.

Elden Ring is good, but the formula hasn't really changed that much in 12 years. The most interesting new game that From made with the sameish formula is Sekiro. Wukong is closer to Sekiro than it is to elden ring, and just like Sekiro, is better than elden ring for it in my subjective opinion.

Its not a perfect game, the invisible walls get annoying after a while, but I've had more fun playing it than shadow of the erdtree.

You can see the Elden Ring in any topic, not because he is really that good, but because he has high popularity and persuasiveness. As long as there is Elden Ring in language, it has persuasiveness. What a stupid logic

Elden Ring was a decent game and people loved it. That's why Black Myth devs copies as much as possible from it and made thier own game in that type. It's a well know practice in China.

They copy almost nothing from elder ring. Combat like in slashers, lvl system from action games, no souls, no big open world, equipment like in standard RPG or action game, no penalty from death, good story.
