I am surprised the plot deviates this much from the moral lesson of the JttW, this seems more like it subverts the original story..
Secondly, some of the stories in the Black Myth of Wukong are compiled from local folk traditions
Finally, in my opinion, the story of the Black Myth Wukong may be made to meet the feelings of Chinese people. There are many ironic things in the game
The journey to the West with 81 trials & tribulations are meant to teach Wukong humbleness and character, they are not supposed to trick and burden Wukong like Black Myth implies.
This is why Buddha wants Wukong to walk to the West instead of flying via the cloud.
Either ways, just my impressions.
The light reading is that Heaven and Buddha realm is lax and many beasts use this to mess up Earth.
The dark reading is the journey was meant to vanquish or recover bad elements in Buddha dom.
But in either reading, Buddha sent Guayin to regularly watch and save Wukong and sometimes he himself intervened. It's wrong to say Buddha was evil in sending Wukong to the West.
