Any tips for defeating the flame bear?

I do barely any damage on him and he deals a lot of damage to me...
any tips to defeat him?

Did you do the secret zone in the first chapter? You get something good against the flame bear.

Did you ring the 3rd bell after the snake boss, and fight the golden boss?
that should give you the fire resistance mantle to use in the 2nd phase when the bear starts using fire

Working on that myself. I had been trying using the pillar stance but now i switched to the smash stance, which seems to do more damage overall. Also upgraded the combo damage skills in the staff stances tree to boost my dps. dodging his mist form is a huge pita too... the timing is really tight. Figuring out how to perfect dodge his attacks is key, but it's hard to tell one move from another because they all look pretty much the same to me.

Reduce their HP to zero before they reduce your HP to zero.

I beat that guy (barely) on the first attempt and didn't even realize that flame resistance thing I had would have helped, haha. Woops.

first attempt? HOW?? i do no damage to him and must avoid one million attacks

don't mean to brag but i beat him without going to the secret temple and getting stuff there, died on my 1st attempt but beat him on my second

it's really not that hard his moves are very linear and you have magic skills that can just ruin him. Like immobalize him = easy damage plus if you have the perks then if he is mid attack it lasts longer and you do even more damage, the cloud spell is a get out of jail free card and can stagger him when used right and on top of that you can turn into that fire boss that gives you a separate health bar so you can just button smash the boss and on top of that you can use items to reduce damage you take if you make mistakes.
