Yeah but you cant deny the facts most features and abilities from Sun wukong was inspired by Hanuman from Ramayana. Manuscripts and depictions for Hanuman predates Buddhism/Taoism and fictional Wukong by Millennia..

I assure you i've never seen anyone in EU that can't answer basic world knowledge questions - in US it's quite common actually - I don't know if you are aware of it but around 20% of adults in US is illiterate, In EU it's like 1%
