"Son GoKu"(孫悟空) literally is Japanese pronunciation of the Chinese name 孫悟空 Sun WuKong, it's the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ same name in different pronunciation.
We all know Son GoKu in Dragon Balls is not the same as in the original Chinese novel but they do share same name.

Dragon Ball is a work created by Master Toriyama Akira based on the Chinese mythic novel 【Journey to the West 】and Jackie Chan and Chinese kung fu. In Dragon Ball, only Son Goku and the Bull Demon King are borrowed from the【 Journey to the West】. The other characters are all original by Master Toriyama Akira, so there will be no Vegeta in the game
