Audiosurf 2 and Spotify/Rdio...
To the devs:
Hello, I'd want to buy Audiosurf 2, but the problem is I only use Spotify and have not any music files in my computer... So the question is: will Ausiosurf 2 recognize Spotify playlists/tracks?

Every time I see a good music game (Audiosurf, Beat Hazard...), it has not Spotify support :\

Hope you'll see this message and/or if anyone know, please explain me why... :)

Same problem here.

Adapting to Spotify would really be great. :)

I'd love this too but I think the issue is that services like Spotify stream music rather than download them onto your computer. Games like Audiosurf analyze the entire music file to generate the stage before you play. I don't think it's possible, though I would LOVE to be wrong about this.

As far as I know Spotify uses Vorbis format and allows Caching of tracks for offline usage. So technically it should be possible to analyze the tracks.
Of course Spotify might not be interested in granting access to complete files through their API due to pirating reasons. :)
So I guess the odds are against a Spotify integration. :(

Could be possible if spotify or alike is integrated into the game. But then you'd have to login to be able to use it.

Yeah, but you can sync your playlists only if you are a Premium member (like me) or Unlimited (but I'm not sure), so piracy is reduced I think... :\

Spotify's API, libspotify (https://developer.spotify.com/technologies/libspotify/) allows you to slurp in the whole song: "The audio is delivered through a push-callback called by libspotify when data is available. Your callback may eat all data, or just enough to fill some constant-sized buffer." (from: https://developer.spotify.com/docs/libspotify/12.1.45/).

Unfortunately, you can only use libspotify with a premium account. Though that shouldn't be a problem for most people in this thread, judging from the responses.

I would absolutely love this to be implemented, could be a big selling point too: If you see a song in the leaderboards or just played list, and it's available on
Spotify, you could jump right in and compete even if you don't "own" that track.

Definitely +1.

Also, it would be the 'same' track for other people and then a better integration of leaderboards if I'm right... (I think all players have not the same .mp3 files)

Of course I only looked at the technical side of things. Sadly, the libspotify ToS don't allow paid software to use libspotify. Crud. Maybe Dylan can strike a separate deal with them? Or, as has been mentioned in another thread, it can be implemented as a free mod?
My Legalese is not good enough to be able to judge if a mod would count as commercial.

Would definitely buy if it supported Spotify. I have been a Spotify premium member for almost a year now and don't have any music on my computer. There is no point since I can stream it all.

Keep bumping this for attention.

Rdio support would also be fantastic for those of us in Canada ;)

You better make it like Spotify/Itunes/Google Play/Last.fm/Rdio/Pandora/Deezer xD
