And you are more than welcome to do that as long as you don’t be abusive about it, or lol game throw because words. Otherwise you get the old suspension
Women have been part of the video game industry since the 1960s-70s with one of the earliest designs being the Atari 2600 and Carol Shaw being one of the first female game designers and programmers. It's never been a "boys club" it's just a way of saying that video games were predominantly men for years until around 2010 when more women took interest in video games.
One woman for every 1000 men sounds pretty boys clubby but I know my sisters played Nintendo, snes all that but that doesn’t make it a serious hobby for them just something to do. I’ve been on the internet since 96 I’m aware ladies have been gaming but a unicorn is still a unicorn.
Boys club would imply it excludes women, to which it doesn't. It's like women getting a career into engineering which is also a male dominated field. Carol Shaw is just one of the many women that made a name for herself in the video game industry, there are plenty of other women throughout the years playing video games and being a part of the development for games alike.
Ok well explain the competitive gaming scene then, where are the women winning gaming tournys?
It’s all matter of opinion just because a handful of women were involved with gaming in the early years does not make internet gaming any less of a boys club.
Don’t get me wrong I like that women game now more than ever but you don’t get to be abusive or game throw because you are a female sorry that’s not equality. You don’t get special privileges or anything just because of that. You wanna game you are more than welcome to but if you throw in my presence I am going to report and be pretty snide to you just like I would any man.
so if you talk in voice chat, and a guy on your team tells you to "get back into the kitchen" and being hostile and rude towards you you're telling me you'd just sit back and keep playing , not affected by the comments at all? Im not trying to shove my beliefs in your face but if theres clearly a toxic player on your team your telling me you wouldnt care and continue playnig?
Report them mute them and move on with your life. They would have gotten banned if you had just reported them and not you instead you choose to break the rules in comp and gamethrow. It’s really that simple none of this has to do with gender and everything that you want to break rules as you please
Being female is not a get out jail free card, there are consequences to your actions
There are still few women in the competitive gaming scene but it doesn't mean that they don't exist, an example of the five women who have made a name in the competitive scene: https://www.oneesports.gg/gaming/women-in-esports-history/ and an honorable mention to Xiaomeng “Liooon” Li who won Hearthstone's Global Finals at none other than BlizzCon back in 2019.
And again saying it's a boys club is will-fully excluding women, to which isn't true as women still existed it was just a male dominated field back then. You can start calling something a boy club when it only consists of men.
I don't have any issues with you reporting gamethrowers, and I don't think anyone gets a pass to be abusive.
no offense but i was asking KOS MOS specifically not you, i already know you could care less about sexism/ misogyny because im sure its never happened to you before, or you would care more. , you care more about me throwing the comp game than anything else, even though thats not the point.
Exactly why she should of muted and reported instead they lost their temper got toxic and broke the rules.
I have been playing video games since I was a little girl so I have been exposed to pillocks, trolls and tossers throughout the years. You learn to not feed into it and instead troll them back and just continue to prove you're good at what you do. You can argue with them all you want but you can't change someone's mind about you, and especially not sexist players. There are better ways to handle it.
No offense but you have been banned on more than one account so you should control your emotions better.
You are right I care more about COMPETITIVE being a fair place with no game throwers, all you had to do was report him and his bad words and none of this would be happening to you.
A lesson learnt, nonetheless.
