Account Suspended after standing up to toxic sexist tank in comp
Bought the battle-pass and decided to play a comp game, the tank was being toxic and hostile towards me just because my username is "mommy" and of course i defended myself , and then i started throwing the game because it was too late to leave and who wants to help a toxic misogynistic a$$hole win the game?? After that i hadn't played for 4 days and when i opened the game and saw i was suspended for 3 weeks, they must've spam reported me. Funny how im the one getting punished in this situation, the same thing happened on my other overwatch account except they permanently banned that account wrongfully, it doesn't matter how many times you contact support you just get a f*cking npc response over and over and over again... never a real person.... im no longer playing even after my ban is up i am sick and tired of overwatch and their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ report system, I've read here that people have been getting suspended for just saying "ggs" or "gl have fun" so im done for now until they ever fix their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ report system.. because it can easily be abused .

edit: i was playing in a group with friends in comp. the only person who wasnt in our group was the toxic tank my friends were fine with me throwing after i asked them if they were cool with it. its not like we were jumping off the map or emoting we were soft throwing,

edit: since people keep lecturing me about how i deserved to be suspended/banned, i really dont care if my acc gets perma banned, i never liked overwatch unless im playing with friends anyways, but even with friends i hate it.

edit: have to clarify i am in no way saying i dont deserve to be banned i just DO NOT care if i do anymore....and no im not posting this for attention i just wanted to vent about blizzards awful support ticket system and how toxic people are in this game,

edit: there i changed the title since 2 people said it was misleading

i really think all gamer girls need to just speak up for themselves, because the misogynist men will never stop... so may as well tell them how you really feel right?

And you are more than welcome to do that as long as you don’t be abusive about it, or lol game throw because words. Otherwise you get the old suspension

It was never a boys club but it did primarily attract more men, video games have always been gender neutral and women have been a part of the gaming industry long before Steam and other platforms were invented.

There are a ton of articles like

https://www.pcmag.com/news/gaming-no-longer-a-boys-club

That suggest otherwise

Women have been part of the video game industry since the 1960s-70s with one of the earliest designs being the Atari 2600 and Carol Shaw being one of the first female game designers and programmers. It's never been a "boys club" it's just a way of saying that video games were predominantly men for years until around 2010 when more women took interest in video games.

One woman for every 1000 men sounds pretty boys clubby but I know my sisters played Nintendo, snes all that but that doesn’t make it a serious hobby for them just something to do. I’ve been on the internet since 96 I’m aware ladies have been gaming but a unicorn is still a unicorn.

Boys club would imply it excludes women, to which it doesn't. It's like women getting a career into engineering which is also a male dominated field. Carol Shaw is just one of the many women that made a name for herself in the video game industry, there are plenty of other women throughout the years playing video games and being a part of the development for games alike.

I would rather play with a sexist tank 100000000 times over than any sort of game thrower. Simple as.

You should be banned if you game throw. Good on blizzard.

Gosh, i know You as a reasonable person, but saying this is way bellow any standards..

Misogyny is a serious problem for female gamers. Maybe You don't understand it because You do not experience it, but as a female player, You get targeted for merely being a female. In these misogynists' eyes, You should not be given right to talk and voice Your opinion. You are not allowed to queue for DPS. But if You love Mercy and play her often, You're also unskilled and not good enough to be in their team. You're never enough for them. Often a loss is attributed to You simply because You're a woman. "gg we have a girl in our team so we lost."

Dealing with them occasionally, its possible to make-do. But dealing with them 100 million times more than a thrower means basically every game is filled with 9x misogynysts. Its stressful on the short term. Its not good for mental health on the long term. At that point, its better to not play the game as a female.

Please reconsider what You said.

i do not like throwers, but this is a special case. She was in a party of 4. All her party mates did not mind what she did, and even supported her, defended her. So she hurt no one's game except the misogynyst, and her own - for what's left of it, as it was jeopardized to begin with -.
Yh I'm female myself and I agree with what this guy said. Play your game, do your job, I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ what you think or believe.

Ok well explain the competitive gaming scene then, where are the women winning gaming tournys?

It’s all matter of opinion just because a handful of women were involved with gaming in the early years does not make internet gaming any less of a boys club.

Don’t get me wrong I like that women game now more than ever but you don’t get to be abusive or game throw because you are a female sorry that’s not equality. You don’t get special privileges or anything just because of that. You wanna game you are more than welcome to but if you throw in my presence I am going to report and be pretty snide to you just like I would any man.

so if you talk in voice chat, and a guy on your team tells you to "get back into the kitchen" and being hostile and rude towards you you're telling me you'd just sit back and keep playing , not affected by the comments at all? Im not trying to shove my beliefs in your face but if theres clearly a toxic player on your team your telling me you wouldnt care and continue playnig?

Report them mute them and move on with your life. They would have gotten banned if you had just reported them and not you instead you choose to break the rules in comp and gamethrow. It’s really that simple none of this has to do with gender and everything that you want to break rules as you please

Being female is not a get out jail free card, there are consequences to your actions

There are still few women in the competitive gaming scene but it doesn't mean that they don't exist, an example of the five women who have made a name in the competitive scene: https://www.oneesports.gg/gaming/women-in-esports-history/ and an honorable mention to Xiaomeng “Liooon” Li who won Hearthstone's Global Finals at none other than BlizzCon back in 2019.

And again saying it's a boys club is will-fully excluding women, to which isn't true as women still existed it was just a male dominated field back then. You can start calling something a boy club when it only consists of men.

I don't have any issues with you reporting gamethrowers, and I don't think anyone gets a pass to be abusive.

no offense but i was asking KOS MOS specifically not you, i already know you could care less about sexism/ misogyny because im sure its never happened to you before, or you would care more. , you care more about me throwing the comp game than anything else, even though thats not the point.

I have been playing video games since I was a little girl so I have been exposed to pillocks, trolls and tossers throughout the years. You learn to not feed into it and instead troll them back and just continue to prove you're good at what you do. You can argue with them all you want but you can't change someone's mind about you, and especially not sexist players. There are better ways to handle it.

No offense but you have been banned on more than one account so you should control your emotions better.

You are right I care more about COMPETITIVE being a fair place with no game throwers, all you had to do was report him and his bad words and none of this would be happening to you.
